This is SO HR but maybe someone that BTDT knows...
HR are not the easiest people at my place so any info is helpful. So I am on bedrest for the next 2 weeks. One week I have to use MY time. (sick vacation and personal). There is still one week in between bedrest and the baby. How does that get paid out? Once the baby comes then I get maternity leave (8 weeks)? I guess I am wondering what weeks am I getting paid for and by who???

crashing but my friend at work had the same thing happen and they put her on short term disability for those two weeks so she wouldn't have to drain all of her sick, vacation and personal time.

My firm had a private short term disability policy. The 1st week, I had to use my time (vacation or sick) and after that, I was paid the STD rate. I was on bedrest for 2.5 weeks before DS was born.
Assuming you have a c-section, you should get 9 weeks of pay under the STD policy.

This is the way it would be at my company as well. For a vaginal birth, you would get 2 weeks less.

Re: This is SO HR but maybe someone that BTDT knows...
It depends on your company policy.
It is very common for the first week to be "your own time" - sick, personal, etc.
THis is also to separate a true disability situation with someone who for example has the flu for 4 days. Your company doesn't consider you "disabled" until you miss 6 consecutive days of work.
That being said, they may apply their disability plan depending on their policy.
Usually, that second week would begin your disability period and then if you have a csection, you would continue to be on disability for 8 more weeks for a total of 9.
You will only get paid during this portion based on what their paid disability policy is. Sometimes you qualify based on length of service - every company is different.
The total amount of time you are typically allowed out of the office is 12 weeks which is the FMLA period. Assuming you are eligible for FMLA. In your example, your 12 weeks begins ticking away with the first day you are absent. So, you would have used 10 weeks of FMLA time by the time your disability period ends. Usually, if you stay out the additional 2 weeks (for a total of 12), you either go unpaid or use personal/vacation/parental leave.
HTH - you probably have to ask your company about their specific policy.
