This is not looking good...
My father was supposed to be discharged to an in-patient rehab center today, but yesterday, after dialysis, his blood pressure plummeted and the docs detected an irregular heartbeat, so now he's staying put in the hospital, for an indefinite period of time, so they can keep an eye on him.
Problem is, it's a hospital, so they aren't focused on getting him up out of bed, moving around and focusing on relearning easy tasks, so he's fairly immobile, staying in bed 99% of the day. So, now he's getting bed sores, which can be a HUGE HUGE problem for a diabetic.
Does it ever get easier?

You should speak to his doctors. I remember when my friend's mom was in the hospital for kidney cancer they had these "volunteers" go from room to room taking patients on walks around the halls.

I am so sorry to hear this, Beth.
As a previous poster mentioned, I would 100% relay any concerns to the doctor. You are entitled!!!

I feel for you. My brother is doing the same right now. He will go to an inpatient rehab place soon but for now he is in bed just laying there. Last night when I saw him he was just quiet and not making much sense. Almost like he was regressing. Can't wait to get him out of there. Even though the hospital is great, he can't get better just lying there. My brother has a rash and some skin breakdown from being on his back for 6 weeks. he is also diabetic.
Hang in there. Things will right themselves shortly. It's a setback that will resolve.
