I like Greenwood Lake - close to the city and a cute summer town. I am not really a lake person, but it is a nice area.

A woman in my office has a weekend home there and loves it.
Her husband has done the commute from there a couple of times and it takes him just over an hour to get into the city (driving). There are busses from there though and people in her community actually commute to/from the city M-F.

i used to work w/a woman who lived there-she would commute into the city every day-i think it took 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour for her commute
she loved it!
one good thing..not too far from the outlets

IMO that area is so beautiful...we go to the area a couple of times a year, mostly daytrips and I always say to DH if we did not have the family ties we have here I would move to that area in a heartbeat...I have never been there in the winter though so I am curous to know what kind of winters they get...but its so peaceful in that area....

My aunt lives near there. I love that area. There is a very small "less desireable" area, but this house clearly is not there. Any the less desireable area is not all that bad anyway. It is just some of the older vaca houses.

Ladies, Here's an interesting factoid...Derek Jeter has a summer house in Greenwood Lake, NJ which is right over the border of Greenwood Lake, NY.

Ladies, Here's an interesting factoid...Derek Jeter has a summer house in Greenwood Lake, NJ which is right over the border of Greenwood Lake, NY.
Thats right Dina he bought the estate, Tiedemann Castle, that was his Grandfathers childhood home many years ago. So now its back in the family. However its NY, not the Jersey side.
Tiedemann Castle tidbits
His cousin was SIL's RE agent and my aunt drives his young cousins on the bus, they are also the NY side, in Greenwood Lake and Warwick. (well, the villages of GWL, Florida and Warwick are all in the town of Warwick)
