Not a fan of throwing rocks, breaking windows, etc but not surprised that some protests are getting intense.

I am not following... protesters as in people against trump.

Because if so, how does this help?

After Obama won, people were burning and hanging dummies in effigy. And he won the popular vote by a wide margin. Given this election cycle, I'm not surprised things are getting ugly... but I wish they weren't.

I hope no one is harmed.

Re: Things are getting ugly on the streets in DC

There were peaceful protests throughout DC, but the ones that go violent never make any sense to me. There are reports of people taking crowbars to store windows. WTF! I can't even begin to comprehend what that is supposed to accomplish.
Plus, any violent protest takes away from the peaceful ones that are trying to make a legitimate statement (this applies to any protests about any topic).

Violent protest never accomplish anything, and puts people's lives (including LEOs lives) in danger... Chat Icon

There are plenty of peaceful protesters around the area. However cnn is showing a group where a handful are apparently throwing rocks at the police. Obviously it doesn't help anything or anyone. One guess was they were anti war protesters but I don't know that anyone knows for sure.

I saw this. Heard that bottles were being thrown at people attending inauguration. Then NBC shows people breaking windows at Starbucks and a banki think. Breaking away from the peaceful protesting to bust windows along the way? What does that do?

Disgraceful.

In other news: I was glad to see The clintons there. Shows strength and allegiance. And the obamas are so cute. Holding hands. Chuckling at each other, touching heads as they walked towards helicopter. #relationshipgoals

I'm watching it on the news right now. I dislike Trump but this is out of hand. They are setting stuff on fire and breaking windows. It's insane

Because there are people in this world who will look for any excuse to cause damage and destruction- they get off on it.

Exactly. It has nothing to do with politics, either. People riot, loot, and start fires when their sports team loses. There are also riots, looting and fires when their sports team wins... Chat Icon

Yep. Herd mentality.

I am all for protesting and being heard but the message gets completely lost when people start hurting others and damaging property.

Agreed. I am all for peaceful, respectful protests. That's part of what makes American what it is but vandalizing is ridiculous. Those people are not protesters they are criminals.

Ugh why can't these people just stay home. Rioting is not protesting. They take away from all those protesting in peace.

Yep and you know the news will focus on the small amount of violent rioters versus the large amounts of peaceful protesters.

FWIW people are saying they are PRO trump people in disguise who are doing the severe damage

Just like when people said those that were drawing swastikas etc were PRO Hillary in disguise

I heard this too but I'm not sure how accurate it is. The rumor I heard was that they are paying people to riot so the march tomorrow will be canceled. Not saying I believe any of it but I heard it somewhere.

Sadly, peaceful protests go nowhere unless there are some violent protests (not saying that it's right).

Yup.

And these aren't protesters. They are rioters. And Imy not sure why they aren't being described as such. Big difference.

And where do violent protests go?
Does do they get things done?
Genuinely curious.....

A lot of what was achieved in the 60s with regards to civil rights probably would not have been achieved with just MLK.

I'm not saying it's right. It's just the way things are. It's a historical pattern.

Truth
And it's really not right. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. what happened to the squeaky wheel also gets replaced?
Giving in to a temper tantrum is the best way to condone bad behavior. lets face it, that's what rioters are, adults throwing a violent tantrum. Totally discrediting what they say they stand for.

It's unfortunate
