Not to crash, but she is actually a teacher at my cousin's school in CA.
The girls are terrific dancers but those moves are HIGHLY inappropriate! And unnecessary. I mean, I danced...there are tons of moves that could replace the gyrating and stripper moves. Along with the costume.

Inappropriate outfits and moves for 7 year olds, unless you're changing the subtitle under the video from "Future Hall of Famers" to "Future Strippers and Pole Dancers"
Parents have a bit of culpability here. This is 2 videos, 2 separate years they are obviously approving of the outfits and moves.

I agree. I danced my whole life, and except for those amazing turns (which I was never really able to do) there is no dancing! Just turns, and then stripper moves. Turns, stripper moves. There are so many things these girls would be able to do! And, any dance catalog has some cute hip hop outfits that are much more appropriate than this - ths is like, back of the catalog bargain crap

Their little bodies on display like that, grinding and gyrating...those little butts of theirs that they are sticking out...etc...it just makes me sad. I cannot believe their parents (and teacher) think THIS is cute or appropriate.

OMG what is wrong with these parents ....I'm sorry but the whole motto of "everyone else is doing it" does not make it right! These girls are children and should be playing with dolls not learning how to be a pole dancer!

That made me sick to my stomach. I just don't understand why we have to sexualize children. Let them be children. It is only for such a short time.
And people wonder why we have teenage pregnancies and alarming rates of sexually active teenagers.

Crashing here...but if that is what dance schools are teaching in today's time - I'd be enrolling my future DD in girl scouts.
That is just plain ridiculous - they gyrated their hips & bottoms one too many times for an 8 year old IMO.
Call me a prude but to me that is NOT appropriate for a child - I don't care what type of dancing is "popular" in today's day and age.
Why are we teaching young girls to move like this? Why are some people accepting of it? I hear stories from my friends who are teachers in elementary schools & can't believe what they are saying these kids are doing at such young ages - sexual things.
With all the internet exposure there is today - having your young daughter dance like this & than posting it online for all the sickos to see is insane.

I just want to say.. there's a lot of finger pointing going on (and I'm not saying its not well deserved) to the parents and the teacher but I have a more important question..
What about the system that rewards them?
Why is this allowed in competition? Is it that these girls are just BETTER than the others which is why they are drawing attention? My little sister did some dance when she was about this age but it was for school. They had rules, etc that wouldnt allow overly sexually implied dance or music.
I wonder if its the system that is supporting these kids that the focus should be on, if you really want it to stop. Because if there's no reward, no stage to dance on, then all you would have is some kids dancing in a den, instead of youtube mass hysteria over 7yr olds shaking their booty.
They are kids, they don't know what they are doing, they are having fun.
The parents may just see it as innocent because they don't let their kids connect the sex to the dance, just the dance for the dance itself
But the judges of these events, the sponsors of them, they know darned well what it looks like. But you still see them perform.

Very well said. 
There are excellent "dance" moves in that routine. When did pelvic thrusts and gyrating become "dancing" especially for little girls. Without those unnecessary fillers, that could be a great dance routine to showcase talent.
And there are so many options for costumes that would still make them feel "grown up". Black capri leggings with a white collared "boyfriend" shirt tied in a knot (maybe a lipstick kiss on the collar)? What do prison stripe hot pants and thigh highs have to do with "my boyfriend's back" (and 9 year olds!)? The outfit should not distract from the dancing. At one point the girl in pink had to pull up her top.
I'm sure in their world, it's nothing and quite the norm. But with the internet and youtube, ya gotta think twice about what you put "out there".

My 11 yo DD is in dance and definitely DOES NOT dance like this !! She changed dance schools for 2 years, and was in a school that did competitions and some of the recital dances for that school were One of the reasons I switched her back.
