Re: THE OFFICIAL..... NUTRISYSTEM .....thread

Who cares who on first or second, its a GREAT program with lasting results! I havent seen ANY of the ads on the cable channels for N/S mention or target sex!
when I was on WW and south beach and I "cheated" what a joke the weight came back along with some more, I have cheated like you wouldnt believe on N/S and I havent gained a lb back! My family members and coworkers have all said to me you lost weight- I even had 1 of the doctors say it to me yesterday and I was so happy considering I havent been exact to the diet lately, missing some veggies and salads.
E-diets is a joke too, I looked into it, but you know what ever works for YOU is what you should do. Not all "diets" work the same for all. But either way Good luck to all and keep up the good work!!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Doesnt matter how you lose it , its that you lose it and most IMPORTANT keep it off!!! Losing can be easy, maintaining is the hard part!

Cool - Welcome to LIF

How does the vegetarian plan differ from the Regular plan, other than the fact that you cannot eat meat?

Re: THE OFFICIAL..... NUTRISYSTEM .....thread

I think I am crazy b/c I actually like the banana muffins and the blueberry. DH hates them so I swap some of my breakfast bars for his muffins.

THe beef tacos are YUMMY .

I added less water to the lunch entree ( fettucine alfredo) and it came out much better as suggested by Felicia. ( thanks Chat Icon )

So with the add less water theory I did that to those mashers and they are still FOUL!

I have a digital scale and weifhed myself the 1st day of the diet and weigehd myself again on day 8 and there was about an 8 pound difference!!!!!!!!!!

I am sure by the end of week 2 that will slow down. But hey I'll take it---- I am about 17 pounds from my goal!

Good luck and continued sucess to everyone!!!!!

Welcome JackieandJustin and MrsA!

Everyone is doing so well, way to go!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Skygirl - I personally do not think there is ANY way to make those mashers edible Chat Icon They are by far the worst lunch entree I've tried out... bleeeeeh

But 8 pounds in 8 days, that is amazing!! I lost about that my first week too.. The next week it slowed to 2.5 or so. But I have consistently lost after that (anywhere from 1-3 pounds a week) so it never discouraged me. Keep up the awesome work!!!

Oh and I loovve the beef tacos too! One of my favorite dinners

All the cereals are pretty good in my book.. though my favorites are the cinammon and granola ones. At first, I really liked the banana muffins but lately just cannot stomach them.. they are def. more filling than the cereals. I used to eat them with my yogurt, made it easier to tolerate Chat Icon

I've considerably slowed down with my weight loss.. since lately I've been eating "off plan" on the weekends. I have lost a total of 36.5 pounds .. only 10 more pounds until I hit my goal

Good luck all! Chat Icon

Scott - I chose all my own meals from the NS website when I ordered. So basically all my lunch and dinner entrees are pasta items w/ some veggies in them and I got some chili for dinner entrees. I dont think theres any major difference otherwise.

I do eat chicken once in awhile but I just chose not to get any entrees w/ chicken in them.

Skygirl- 8lbs?! omg I hope I can say the same, but somehow I doubt, it takes me forever to lose wt! :(
I know you're not supposed to but I weigh myself like 2x a day and so far nothing, but Im only on the 3rd day.

Do all of you work out also? I try to work out for 60min 4-5/week. Im hoping that will help speed up the weight loss.

Re: THE OFFICIAL..... NUTRISYSTEM .....thread

I havent eaten the tacos yet - I have one box of them at home
Last night I made Pizza, with stir fried onions, garlic, mushrooms, red pepper and zucchini on top yummmmm - so much better than the plain Pizza. Danielle as laughing at it last night, after she ate two yummy slices from Sagestas in levittown

For excersize, I walk. So far I have only gone once this week.....I have been busy doing other things after work, but I always keep active. I take the stairs a lot and do a lot of walking from my cube to the water cooler, and my cube to the bathroom lol....I am down 100 ounces of water today.....

The mashers, I heard are nasty. I never tried them. I just sold all 4 boxes of them on ebay, and 3 boxes of eggs too - yuk

MrsA- I worked out a couple of times that week- and started forcing myself to drink the water by day3. ( It was probably a lot of water weight I had)
This week- when I went to the Dr. yesterday I weighed in @ the same weight that I was on Monday so I am sure that I will have such a dent by next weigh in on this coming Monday.

I started to work out but I have a had a KILLLER sinus infection and stopped. Tomorrow I am going to tr and get my a$$ to the gym my mil goes to and join.

DOn't worry MrsA - try not to keep weighing yourself- it will work for you

Thanks for the support Skygirl! :)

I have a question, on the commericals it says NS is based on the glycemic index, in that the food on NS are low on the scale.

But arent things like carrots, fruit juices, and pastas high on the scale?

Also how many times per week do you guys skip a NS meal and have something else instead?

ETA had the fettucine alfredo w/ mushrooms today, didnt really taste any mushrooms in there but still it was yummy! and yes adding less water definitely makes the entree taste better! good tip!

Good job Scott! When did you start NS?

I had the blueberry lemon dessert bar yesterday - YUCK! Chat Icon I threw most of it out and I usually love anything sweet!

I had the vegetarian chili yesterday for dinner and that was really good though.

To answer your question.. sicne the plan is generally 'low glycemic" and you are only having things like carrots, fruit juice in VERY small doses, I dont think it would affect the principles of the plan. I honestly don't eat carrots , corn or drink fruit juices(I just eat my fruit instead) so I canont speak from experience, but eating those items should have no affect on your weight loss..

As for as skipping NS meals. At first, I was VERY strict w/myself. I ate only the NS food and the extras.. Maybe 3 or 4 weeks into the plan I went to Applebees 1x a week w/my husband and we had the Weight Watcher entrees, which has all the nutritional information right on the menu (its also on the Appelbees website). It always worked out well for me..

Now that I've almost reached goal, we go out to eat on the weekends and just try to make wise choicse. Its really about portion control, healthy eating ...

Hope that helped!

I gotta agree - I HATED those bars (but honestly I dislike all the 'dessert bars' (caramel, peanut butter, mocha, etc).. they all seem way too sweet to me.. Chat Icon

The best 'sweet' desserts to me is the NutriCrunch Chocolate or the Cherry Cordial chocolates, the puddings (you have to make them.. and I use a little skim milk and water when I prepare them). I love the caramel popcorn. And I love the almond and chocolate biscotti w/a cup of coffee ..but most people hate it, its an acquired taste (if you don't like biscotti or don't know what it is - don't try it!)

As for the crunchy/salty snacks, I like some of the soy chips, all the pretzels (honeymustard/garlic/soy) and I also like the chex mix stuff, cannot remember the name Chat Icon

Trying the different foods will at least better prepare me when I order next month.

Thanks Felicia for the explanation! Do you also know why the meals dont have to be refridgerated? Are the meals w/ meat like that too? I know its well sealed and all but still, seemed odd to me and when I tell people that they get grossed out lol

Im also trying to stick to eating the NS meals, so far Ive been good, but tonight I have a b-day party to go to, but I'll be goodChat Icon

I think next time when I order Im only going to order the low fat granola for breakfast (dont like the NS square cereal or frosted shredded wheat)
and only the chocolates for dessert. I dont mind a lack of variety, as long as it tastes good!

If you go onto the NutriSystem website, they have a "Dining Out" guide which gives you good suggestions on how to make wise choices and keep 'on plan' ... I can copy and paste if need be, they have it broken down into different types of cuisine (Italian, Chinese, Mexican, French, etc..) I'm sure you'll be FINE - just watch your portions and enjoy!!

As for the food... Chat Icon I cannot tell you how many times pepole have asked me "but you don't freeze or refrigerate the food?" and they get that grossed out look on their faces.. I know I was pretty leery myself before trying out the food. I believe they are vaccum sealed.. ok, let me just post an explanation direct from the website:

Q: Why don't the NutriSystem foods require refrigeration?
A: All of the NutriSystem foods are "packaged for portability" - a convenience that is very important when you're losing weight. NutriSystem foods are sealed in their packaging prior to cooking to preserve all the important vitamins and minerals and keep them fresh until you open them. On average, the shelf life of NutriSystem meals and desserts is between 6-18 months and because of our "soft canning" process, none of our foods require refrigeration. They're ready to go whenever, and wherever, you are.

Q: How should I store my NutriSystem foods?
A: When you receive your NutriSystem foods, you don't need to refrigerate or freeze them. They can be stored at room temperature in a cupboard or on the countertop.
