The Great Footie Pajama Debate
I am just curious. I always thought they were sleepwear only but now that it is cold out I will put them on her to go to the doctor or to run errands, so I don't have to worry about socks.
However, when DH sees her in them he asks "aren't you going to dress her today?"

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate
DD spent the first few months in PJs . Easy to get on and off with ALL those diaper changes, no hassle with socks that always come off and disappear, and comfy for DD. I used to think people would think I was a lazy mom when she went to all her drs appts like that, but I noticed a lot people doing it too.
Shoot, if I could wear jammies all day I would!

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate
DS was born in November he worn those footie Pj's until february. I didn't care what any one said he was warm and comfy and when he fell asleep I didn't have to change his clothes. I also put socks on him because I always have cold feet so I though he would too LOL

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate
I will be putting her in them for everything! She's a baby- she doesn't need to be dressed to the nines! When it comes to babies- IMO- comfort and convienience are first and foremost! After all, she can be in an expensive designer outfit and she's just going to spit up all over it anyway!!!

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate
I keep Tyler in them when we drop Jack off at school in the mornings because he comes back and goes right down for a nap or if we are just hanging around the house having a lazy day!

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate
i love them and sent her to daycare in one again today...
she loses socks like nobody's business, so these are perfect for her. not only for not losing socks, but also the cold weather and at daycare, she's completely enclosed in them, which makes the germophobe in me feel good.

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate
Sleeping and hanging around the house. But if I needed to run out and do errands, they would be ok for public as well.

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate
DS wore a lot of footie outfits last winter. They definitely are easier.
Up to 9 months, Carters calls them sleep and plays

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate
They are for sleep only. I know it doesn't make a difference now (and who knows if it will in a few months), but I want DS to know the difference between day clothes and night clothes, that way, in a few months, he will know that when the feety pajamas come out it's almost bed time.

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate
Both my girls are winter babies (Dec 1 and Jan 9). So, it was cold when they were real newborns, and I did often keep them in those for the first month. But then I started putting them in real clothes for the day.
ETA--even when I kept them in the "sleep-n-play" i would change the outfit in morning and at night, so it was like they were getting dressed for the day. And I'd put the fancier ones (maybe some ruffles, or velvety ones) on during the day, and the more basic ones at night.

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate
DS was born in December so for his first winter he was always in footed PJs, at that age I didn't like the idea of having his pants ride up and leaving exposed skin between his pants and socks.
Now that he is a little older I use them for sleeping and hanging around the house, he is dressed in shirt/pants/socks/shoes when we go out.

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate
Depends on my mood, but sometimes she will go to daycare in them.
I do try to get fancier ones if she is going to wear them out and keep the plain ones for sleeping and hanging out at home.

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate
They are called Sleep And Plays not PJs so I didn't have any issues of having them in those for errands and around the house, especially in the cooler weather.

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate
Jason wears them to sleep, around the house and occasionally for going out. Especially if I have a cute one.
During the week I only go out to take my oldest to school and pick him up in the afternoon. I keep Jason in his footie pjs for those trips because he always goes down for his nap right after we get home both times.

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate
DS was born in February and during his first month, he wore feetie pjs a lot when he was hanging around the house or if we went for a quick walk.
But if people were coming over or we were going to see people, I almost always changed him into an "outfit".
I probably always starting dressing him in an outfit at home when starting at about 6-8 weeks.

sleeping and hanging out in the house
to me, they're PJs - I wouldn't go to the mall in my PJs, I'm not going to dress my kid in PJs to go to the mall.
But I had a spring baby, If I had a newborn in the middle of the winder, I'd probably feel differently and be on teh hunt for 'fancy' ones

I always changed him out of footie pj's. he was a winter baby, but I always had him in a onesie with "sweat pants" and socks during the day. it just felt "right" to me.
besides, my dh is like yours. no pj's past 10 am on ANYONE

My kids wear them around the house all the time. Sometimes Gracie wears them out too. At that age my kids wore footies all day, everyday, unless we were going to an event.

Re: The Great Footie Pajama Debate
When DD was a real baby then I would take her out in feeties for sure. Now I let her hang around in her pj's until we get ready to go out. At 18 months I don't want her out in her pjs.
