Terrible Christmas
I am down in NC for the holidays and my DH's stepfather passed away on the 23rd. He was admitted to the hospital on Wed with the flu (he was sick tho, he had kidney failure etc). He got up during the night to use the bathroom and he must have fell...by the time the nurses got there, his heart had stopped and he was revived...but it was too late, he lost brain function due to lack of oxygen. My MIL had to make the decision to take him off of the ventilator and he passed away peacefully on the 23rd. We were there for the last rites and she was in the room when he passed.
It's very hard bc she knew he was not well but never expected this, esp for Christmas. It's been tough but I am glad we were here for her when she needed it.  She is wheelchair bound with limited walking capability but she has a lot of friends down here....so please say a prayer that she stays strong.
Sorry, just needed to vent....hope everyone has a merry christmas and appreciate the family around you

We had my godfather/favorite uncle pass away ON Christmas Eve w/ everyone there a few years ago & its still hard every year....

I am so sorry for your loss. Its horrible to lose someone before Christmas. My Grandfather died on the 23rd 5 years ago and it was awful.
