Teeth and the dentist?
DD has two bottom teeth, this coming December do I pick up dental coverage, or is it cheaper to pay OOP?
What is the earliest age they should start with the dentist?

Teeth and the dentist?
I just took DD at 17 months. She got a small chip in her teeth so we went to get that checked out and I was told they like to start at a year to get them used to it. They did a small cleaning for her and talked about general care and made it a lot of fun for her. They said we could come in every 6 months but I definitely plan to wait longer. If it doesn't cost much more to add dc I would consider it just in case you have an emergency that comes up. Something I hadn't thought about until I suddenly needed it!

Re: Teeth and the dentist?
I took DS for his first appointment right before his 2nd birthday. The Ped Dentist recommends to start at 1 but our Ped says 3 is ok. I personally would never wait until 3 to start because I know a few kids that have had cavities already at 3. How old is your DC?

Get a soft bristle baby brush and some fluoride free toothpaste and brush them. Unless you think there is a problem you can hold off on the dental insurance.
I brought DS at 2 years old for them to do a cleaning and check up. I will bring him in again soon (he will be three in 2 weeks) and then I will start going every 6 months for cleanings (what is covered by my plan)

Teeth and the dentist?
DS#1 has been going to the dentist since he was 2. The ped. asked if we had taken him when we went in for his 2 year check up and when we said no, she gave a recommendation. He goes every 6 months for cleanings / check-ups -- been there 3 times already. No problems so far.
DS' dentist actually recommends babies come to her as soon as they start getting teeth or by their 1st birthday. I think it's more out of concern that the parents are instilling healthy habits as early as possible.

I took them at 2. I was just taking them off the bottle. But my ped said it could wait until 3. No rush to take them to the dentist

Teeth and the dentist?
Our ped. said as soon as they get teeth they should be seen. My DD has been going since 18 months. Helped her get used to it, and she actually enjoys going now (she is 6)
