The taxes for the house we want are $10,415! But we would have an income of at least $750 a month from the apartment that comes with the house. The house had the taxes listed as $6,000...but the owner said those weren't up to date. And this is Orange County taxes...not even Long Island! Of course we would apply for the STAR exemption - but they'll still be almost $10,000. I don't think it's worth giving up the house for though because it's everything we've been looking for.

I don't live in NY, so my taxes don't compare (and I still complain!  ). Just wanted to send  to you all...it must be great to get most of it back at year's end, but paying taxes (no matter the amount) is a PITA!
