Tattoo'ers=Updated
There have been loads of threads about what tattoo you have, or show us your tattoo, where is your tattoo, did it hurt to get your tattoo and where did you get your tattoo? I have a new one (I think it's new, maybe I missed it somewhere though).
HOW did you decide where on your body you were going to get the tattoo? For those who may have forgotten or may have never seen the final accepted design here is what I am going to get...well once I get the ok from the docs that is:
ETA- The "body" of the butterfly is a cancer ribbon. The color of the cancer ribbon is for my particular cancer. Last but not least, butterfly represents rebirth.
Design credit to Camacho's husband! Thank him again for me Jess!
Updated I'm back and I have a tattoo. We had to make changes to the coloring though As much as I ADORED it the tattoo artist let me know how difficult it would be with the colors and the design and such. SO I got a butterfly, with its body as a cancer ribbon. The top of each wing is purple (my favorite color) and the bottom of each wing is blue (for my baby boy).

Re: Tattoo'ers
So pretty.
I have 2 on my ankles. I didnt want them in a place that was likely to sag years from now like my butt or boob area, and I was too much of a prude to get one on my pantyline. If I had to do over I would get it on my lower back.

Re: Tattoo'ers
ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!
I have tattoos on my inner ankles (on is a butterfly) and always get complements on them!
I also have my back right hip and shoulder
I did not find the pain intollerable for any of them. I think if you really want it enough you tollerate it even more!
Good luck with your choice and again, love the design!

Re: Tattoo'ers
I have one on my ankle with an ankle bracelet and one on my hipbone.
I got the first one on my hip cuz I had wanted a tat for years, but didn't want it in peoples faces.
Then, I realized that I kind of sux to have a tat noone can see (especially if it's the only one you have), so I got the ankle bracelet w/ a celtic heart on the outside of my ankle.
I personally like ankle tats the best - but they do hurt there.

I know that people believe that the pain is part of the experience. I know you can't drink alcohol and get a tat but what about pain killers? I have loads of stuff around here from the last year.

Re: Tattoo'ers
Deb-I love it! CaMacho's husband-amazing!
I chose my lower back b/c I didn't want to see it everyday (I actually forget it's there), I wanted to keep it private and be able to show it when I wanted to. It's the perfect spot for me b/c nobody has to see it unless I choose to show them.

Re: Tattoo'ers
I have 5 tats. All in places you can't see when I'm fully dressed, in a bathing suit you can see them all. I choose to have them put there so I can easily cover them up. that was my reasoning. i'm not a fan of the arm tat or shoulder tat.

Re: Tattoo'ers
For my first two, I put it in a spot that wasn't going to hurt as badly. One is my love handle area and the other is on my lower left abdomen. I got brave for the third and put it on my foot. I'll be honest, that one hurt!!

I don't think the pain is painkiller worthy KWIM? It's more annoying than really painful.

Re: Tattoo'ers
I love that tattoo. It's just beautiful.
I got my first tattoo on my upper thigh. (That way Mom & Dad couldn't see it) It hurt a bit becuase the skin hasn't really been thru the elements. To quote the woman who tattoo'd me "It doesn't look like you see the sun much. So the skin will be more tender then on the calf or arm" My second is above my ankle & it hurt like a bit<h! The tattoo artist blames it on being on the bone.
So to answer your question it will hurt yes. Is it unbearable no.

Some people make it out to be so bad I am not sure what to expect! I always thought it couldn't be THAT bad. Plus you would think, I SHOULD be used to is considering how much history needles and I now share

I don't have any tattoos, but honestly I think it would look great on a lower back. I also think a butterfly would look good there - cause it would look like you have 'Wings' - KWIM? I don't know - thats just my opinion.
I LOVE the design!!!

Re: Tattoo'ers
My favorite tattoo is the Chinese symbol for strength. I got it after DH's accident and have it on the inside of my left foot. I put it there because I felt even when this body was exhausted my feet kept their strength to get me back & forth to the hospital to see DH for the 6 months he was there. And it's on the left foot because DH is left handed. May be corny to some...but really is the true meaning behind it. Oh and it hurt like a b!tch, but totally worth it.
ETA: Your tattoo is beautiful. Camacho's husband did an amazing job. Good luck with your decision. I hope you decide to share a picture once it's done!

Re: Tattoo'ers
OMG Deb I can't wait to tell DH that you decided on his design!!
I absolutely love it and I think it would look great on your lower back. If you want it to be seen more then I would choose your shoulder blade or ankle.
I have ankle, lower back (rt side) and a little one on my foot. The ankle hurt the most and I think it's b/c it's so bony... my lower back def didn't hurt as much.
Can't wait to see it as a real tat on you!

Re: Tattoo'ers
First of all - great tattoo.
I have a sun and moon that I drew on the inside of my ankle.
I chose there becuase I like that it is not always seen, most don't notice it at first, and I didn't even need to cover it up during interviews. I also didn't want anywhere where it was always hidden or that I can't see it wihout looking in a mirror. I also didn't want it anywhere that would get stretched out by being pregnant or getting older.

Re: Tattoo'ers
My top runners so far are ankle, calf or wrist. I hadn't even thought wrist until it was posted here and I reallly like that idea...more so that I would be able to stare at it alll the time! I don't forsee a reason I would NEED to cover it, but if I did, just wear a larger banded watch.

Re: Tattoo'ers
Ok, I just got a tattoo about 3 weeks ago on my shoulder, right on the bone. It hurt like hell IMO. It's a butterly on a leaf. It doesn't mean anything..I just liked it.
