Tampons
I just got a new getting pregnant book. There is a section that says while TTC you should not use tampons or only use for the first day because they have dioxins which can cause a hostile environment for sperm. I have used tampons for lots of years so what do you think I did this morning? Off to cvs to buy some pads. So I was wondering how many of you use tampons, and do you think this is true?

Re: Tampons
This is a total urban legend. I've heard it since the 90's; it usually comes from vegans / organic-types who eschew putting anything non-'natural' in your body. From Snopes.com (the clearest paragraphs about dioxins are near the bottom of the page if you don't feel like reading it all!)

Chill out! You're fine. There are dioxins in everything that is bleached - cotton tee shirts, paper, etc. You're not swallowing massive amounts of dioxins; you're putting them up against the flesh inside your vajayjay. And even if you chose to swallow one for some crazy reason there is only one part per THREE TRILLION of dioxin in one tampon. Not enough to cause any harm.
Think of how many women use tampons for at least part of their periods. Say, over 50 million in America alone? If we're being conservative? Tampons have been around since the 1930's - if this were a problem, we as a species would be in danger.
