Talk to me about double strollers

Of course I wanted a really nice one but now I'm thinking that with Jack being 27 months when this baby is born it's probably not that practical.

Is a sit/stand more convenient for someone Jacks age?

I just can't see spending 700 on a stroller that may not get used.

What do you think?

Re: Talk to me about double strollers

I would definitely go for the sit and stand. I never use the stroller that I have now and have no intention of spending alot of $$ on a stroller Chat Icon

I'd do sit and stand. I've seen and semi tested Melissa's (melissa77) and it was nice and not much longer than the metrolite in all honesty.

And her DC are exactly 2 years apart.

Re: Talk to me about double strollers

Josh is 25 months old...just took a walk in our 350.00 double stroller.

If you are a walker, its a necessity.

Re: Talk to me about double strollers

Not PG here but already know our strategy if we have a #2.

If DS was 2, I would get a double stroller.

I would most likely get PG after DS is 2 so I would go for a sit and stand version. They make a "deluxe" with 2 seats and you can remove the 2nd seat to make it a sit and stand.

If DS was 3, I would get just a sit and stand (the regular one).

ETA: I would got "test" them with Jake IN the stroller. He is a bigger boy. I tried with DS when I was PG with #2 and a lot of them are too small for DS.

I agree, check out once step ahead as they make a double stroller that converts into a sit and stand sp you have the best of both worlds with JackChat Icon

Re: Talk to me about double strollers

Definitely get a sit n' stand. I got one and I didn't even have a small baby at the time. I love it. I wish I could still use mine, but Connor won't stay in it for anything. Caiden is now 5, but he still stands on it even though he's way over the weight limit. He says he gets tired! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Talk to me about double strollers

Diana I had the same issue. G no longer lets me put him in the stroller, so we opted for the sit n stand (we got a Joovy). I was hellbent on getting a tandem, but G is just too big for it now.

She would probably still need to be in a stroller so if it was DS, I would get the double sit and stand. Then sell it when Miki is too old for it and use Miki's stroller for baby #2

That's a VERY nice stroller? I love it but Jack will be 27 months already. Do you think you will have a use for it for "long"?

I know - that's the problem - I don't think it's very convienent for the age he will be.

I don't have the same situation as you but you can get the Bumbleride Twin Indie on some websites for cheaper then BBB or BRU...Not sure if it's a waste or not because I am a Mom to be but I wanted to give you a heads up on saving some money on a really nice stroller

Re: Talk to me about double strollers

Grace hasn't sat in a stroller in about 6 months. The only time is when we go to the airport so we just got the sit and stand. I especially couldn't resist once I found it on sale at Target for $65Chat Icon

ETA: she is 21 months.

I would love the Indie Twin but for us DS, would be too old for good use out of it. I think that's the issue with OP's son. He will be 27 months already.

Re: Talk to me about double strollers

DS will be 19 mos when #2 is born so I have to get a decent one as we'll be using it for a while. But if he were going to be 27 months I'd look at the sit n stands and then a double umbrella like a McClaren instead of a full on double stroller.

Re: Talk to me about double strollers

I am not a fan of tandem with an older child. Plus it was too heavy for me to lift. I tried it out with Andrew in it and it wasn't a good fit. I also don't like the look of a sit n stand and didn't think for us it would work out.

I bought the Chicco Side by Side and so far so good. I only have used it once but it worked out great that one timeChat Icon

Re: Talk to me about double strollers

I had my share of double strollers and I think definitely a sit an stand (I started using one when DS was 23 months) and then if you really plan on going on walks then some sort of jogger. The sit -n-stand is not comfortable to push outside.

My first double was the Mountain Buggy urban and it was PITA to put in and out of my truck because it didn't really fold at all and nothing locks. So I sold that after 3 months, not to mention that DS hated the bucket seats. Then I got the Graco duo tour and I hated that too but DH really thought that a tandem but was better choice. I used that for 10 months and then sold that and got the Sit-n-stand by baby trend. Love that one because even when the front seat is reclined Jack will be able to sit on the jump seat which on the Joovy he really won't be able to.

Now if Jack is a stroller baby and really good when you go out in it then I would get the Zooper tango which is side-by-side and it takes a carseat.
