Taking your temps

So It is only our first month trying....so forgive me but what does it mean when someone's temps are high and when they dip??....Do you really wake up every morning and stick a thermometer under your tongue???

From day 1 of your cycle (first full flow day of AF) you take your temperature at the same time every day - usually when you wake up. Try to keep it as consistent as possible - even on weekends and vacations. For the first two weeks of your cycle, they will fluctuate with in a few tenths of a point from each other. SOMETIMES, but not always, before ovulation, the temps take a slight dip and then surge over the next day or two indicating ovulation. I stress this doesnt happen with everyone - though it does happen with me. From the day you ovulate, to the day of your next period (unless you are PG) they will again fluctuate, but they can be at least 1 point or more than they were before ovulation. Some people get an "implantation dip" where the temps go down a lil further and then back up again. That happens at around 7-10 days DPO. Again, not all women get it - I did not always get this. It has to do with certain hormones being released and supressed at certain times.

I would suggest getting the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility or at least looking at some charting websites.
