Taking their temps...

I think this is the most stressful part of parenting. I do it rectally...does anyone else? He has a cold...I can't imagine doing that in the middle of the night if he was really sick and cranky..

I do it this way too, my ped. told me it's the most accurate. I do it like I'm changing the diaper. Hold the legs up while they are on their back and put it in. You just need to put the silver tip in. I had the ped. show me how b/c I was nervous I'd hurt Sarah. Half the time they don't seem to notice I'm doing it, they just act like it's a normal diaper change.

I do. I bought the vicks digital- it is teardrop shoped so you can't put it in too far.

I also do it while I am changing her diaper.

I do it rectally. We bought and ear thermometer and I returned it. It was the most inaccurate thing ever.
DD doesn't mind having her temp taking. She actually goes "ooohhhh" when you put the thermometer in.

I have a digital rectal too and do it while she is on her back during diaper change. Sometimes she resists if she has been running a temp for a while and I've checked often but she usually doesn't mind at all. Lube it up first.

I actually asked our Ped about doing it a rectal temp and they told me they actually don't recommed that anymore to do it under their arm and add a degree to that. That is how I have been doing it and it has worked well.
