Taking DS to see Rio (first movie questions)
DH and I are taking DS (2.5 years) to see Rio next week. The movie is only 1 hr 40 min long so I think he'll be okay but of course I am a bit nervous - and hoping that I get to see the whole movie as well
We'll be taking him to an early afternoon showing. Any advice on how he can enjoy it the most? Do movie theaters provide booster seats? TIA!

No advice, but I'm excited to hear how it goes since DD (3.5) has not been to a movie yet. She sits through them at home, so I think she would be okay at a theater. Good luck, have fun!

Re: Taking DS to see Rio (first movie questions)
Just bring lots of snacks, and expect to maybe walk outside the theater at some point for a couple minutes if they get restless.
I took my 5 yr old and his friend to Rio over the Easter break, and my 2 yr old came too. It was my 2 yr old's first trip to a movie theater. I will be honest, I don't think she "got" this movie at all (it's more for older kids IMO), but she sat either in her seat or on my lap munching on things for the majority of it and didn't ruin it for big bro and his friend, so that was success enough for me!!!

Thank you!
I don't expect him to get it either, but I thought it would be fun for him because he's seen the commercials, and I also want to prep him for when the Cars 2 movie comes out because he is OBSESSED

I don't think it mattered to her whether she followed the plot, she talked about the "blue bird movie" the rest of the day, lol!!! GL.

Re: Taking DS to see Rio (first movie questions)
Just bring snacks. We took Jack to see Alvin as his first movie - he was also 2.5. He was great the entire time and with about 20 minutes to go he said "Let's go home" - so we left. I didn't want to push my luck!

Re: Taking DS to see Rio (first movie questions)
Honestly,I think it comes down to just how much he likes the movie. I took Peyton with us(Jordan and friends) a few months ago to see the Justin Beiber movie. She is obsessed with him(thanks to Jordan) It was a loooong movie and she made it through almost the entire thing. We sat in the back row,end seat,so when she got antsy near the end we walked in the lobby for a few minutes and took a potty break. 2 weeks later, we went to go see Gnomeo and Juliet. She was totally NOT interested and it was a nightmare. We left after about 25 minutes. My advice is, do not get there too early because the previews take FOREVER.

Re: Taking DS to see Rio (first movie questions)
I haven taken Emerson to 3 movies already (Rio, Hop, and Gnomeo and Juliet). She LOOOOOVED them and was SOOOO good in the movies. I always go to the first showing of the day and because I am home with her I go during the week. They have booster seats in the theater too which is a big help. I bring her a juice cup and we buy soft pretzels and between her snack, the "cool" seat, and the movie itself she was in heaven. She sat through all three movies with no problem.
BTW..........Rio was adorable!! I loved it too!!

We are taking him on Monday at 12:30, so I am hoping the theater is close to empty!

Re: Taking DS to see Rio (first movie questions)
I took my one year old and he LOVED the musical numbers
I would bring some snacks to help keep him occupied should he get bored between musical numbers

How cute! I think we are going to wait for the Winnie the Pooh movie to come out to take DD, she will be almost 2 & 1/2 when it does.

It should be. Whenever I go during the week there is maybe 1 or 2 other kids in the theater and that's all. Have fun!!!
