Taking away the paci
Ds is going to be 11 months and I am going to try to take the paci away while I'm on vacation. How many rough nights should I expect?
He only uses it to sleep but I don't want to have to do this when he's 2 or 3.
Thanks!!

Re: Taking away the paci
I took both of my Daughters pacifiers away around 11 months also...I don't know if I was just lucky but my older daughter fussed for a couple of nights and my little one it didn't phase her. So you may get lucky! Good luck

Re: Taking away the paci
DD 1 was 12 months and we did it cold turkey I dont remember the specifics but I do recall Naps were worse than night time but she was fine after a few days and I dont recall it being so bad
DD 2 is 20 months and I took it away cold turkey 2 nights ago. I cut the top of the paci off, gave it to her, she put it in her mouth and handed it back to me and told me it was broken. I told her it was broken and then we needed to throw it out and we threw it in the garbage. She went to bed that night and only cried for 10 minutes (however I must say she was so tired since she missed her nap and had two shots from her well visit) The next day nap was 20 minutes of screaming and then she only napped for an hour - she usually naps for 2-3 hours. Last night she cried/moaned for about 45 minutes and then slept her usual time. However for nap this afternoon was a disaster - she SCREAMED for 25 minutes, passed out for 30 and then SCREAMED for 10 and I just ended up getting her. We will see how it goes tonight. DD 2 - only used the pacifier for nap and night also
GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Taking away the paci
We pulled it right after DS's birthday - and it was like 3 or 4 nights and he stopped looking for it. Good luck!

Re: Taking away the paci
We did it cold turkey at 7.5 mo. One DD was having an allergy attack from pollen so she was out of it and couldn't breathe out of her nose to use a paci anyway. It took about 3 days of complaining, but it was worth it.
