Swimming lessons?? Any rec?

Hi! I am looking into swimming lessons for my son. He is 27 mths old. Does anyone know any good places? We live in Bayside and is looking for something around the Nassau area, such as, New Hyde Park, Douglaston, Bayside, Little Neck, Garden City, etc.. or even Queens. Any recommendations? And does anyone know what the price range should be like? Sorry first time in swimming lessons =(
Tia!! :)

I am in Bayside too and am looking to do swim lessons this summer with DD. Was thinking of looking at the pool club at Bay Terrace, but I have no idea how expensive it is to join the pool.

Re: Swimming lessons?? Any rec?

I did safety swim with my DS last summer for 6 weeks. He was only 1.5 but I thought it was a waste of money. It was over crowded, there were 3 different classes in 1 pool so you couldn't hear anything. By the time you get in the pool, the class is over in 25 minutes. And there were no make ups when we had to skip a week for illness. We went to Bellmore, but maybe it's different in Westbury.

Re: Swimming lessons?? Any rec?

We do Safe-T-Swim. It works for us, because my son needs individual lessons, not group. The reason I think we have had a good experience is that we lucked out and got a good instructor when we first signed up. When I knew he was leaving, I scoped out the other instructors and requested someone specifically. We only use her. She will be leaving in a few months, so I am on the lookout now for someone else. We book way in advance to get both the teacher and the day we want for lessons. It's not so flexible, but we know that, and figure out how to make it work for us. They do offer makeups for missed lessons, but you have to call the morning of the day you want to go and if they have an opening, they fit you in. You get whatever instructor is available, usually not the one you regularly swim with.

There is a place in Garden city that does lessons that I also looked into. It's behind the Ethan Allen on Stewart Avenue. They have group lessons and I think you can get individual if they determine your child isn't ready for a group lesson. Here's the link:
