Re: Stonybrook Midwives
I Have Used them twice in the Setauket office. I love them! I had wonderful pregnancy and birth experiences with them both times. I use them for my regular ob care and will use them for any future pregnancies.

Re: Stonybrook Midwives
They're great!!! I switched to them in the middle of my first pregnancy. I ended up with a C-section, but am still so glad I went with them. Since then, I too have been using them for regular check-ups and am seeing them with for this pregnancy as well. I love Jessica - she's my favorite, but they really all are great!

Re: Stonybrook Midwives
Love them all. I switched to them at 24wks with DS#1 and had two successful deliveries....and anticipate the same for #3. I feel the most salient reason I like them is the amount of time they spend with you at each appointment...it's never rushed and they ask you how you are feeling emotionally and physically. I can honestly say that when I see some of the midwives at Target or even The grocery store, I'm greeted with a hug....my former OB would never do that.....

Re: Stonybrook Midwives
We switched to the midwives for this pregnancy...I had an ob at a large practice for DS#1.
At the large practice I would be in the waiting room for an hour followed by another 45 min wait in the room in a gown. The reception staff was incredibly nasty and always messing up my insurance info or not calling me with results. At one of my first pregnancy visits they did a pap and it came up that something was wrong so they wanted to do a procedure called a colposcopy which was soooo painful. They never called me with results which made me think that everything was okay but it wasn't until I started seeing the midwives and they got my records that I found out what was really going on. The midwives said that my records said they forgot to send out the sample they took so I went through all that pain for nothing but that just by looking at it the ob practice thought it was herpes but never followed up and allowed me to try to give birth naturally without making sure it wasn't herpes which can be deadly to a newborn. The midwives sent me for a blood test to rule out herpes which they said is a less than 1% chance to have it on my cervix and they were right, I didn't have it but I had a cyst and that's what made the pap smear off. I cried for days. At first, I thought I had herpes, I'm the biggest prude I know lol and never slept around, I couldn't believe I might have it...thank God I didn't and also, I felt sick thinking that the drs that I trusted thought I had something that was so harmful to my DS and still let me try to give birth naturally without confirming yes or no with a blood test, that's SO unsafe.
I also complained to my obs for YEARS that when I BD with DH it's really painful and they would look at me like I was crazy saying that it wasn't possible and asked if DH was unusually large meaning that would be the only reason it would hurt. Also, pap smears and internals and any ob exam was always SO painful and they would basically tell me I was over reacting. My FIRST appointment with the midwives this pregnancy, she goes to do the routine pap and check up and instantly goes "I'm so sorry if this might hurt but it's hard to get to you with your tilted uterus" No one EVER told me I had a tilted uterus and here the midwives are letting me know my first appointment. I told her about all the pains and she said it's all due to the tilted uterus. Why didn't the obs tell me that!!?
They are great. Not only for those reasons but they take so much time with me at my appointments. I ask about a half hour worth of questions at each appointment because I'm thinking of a VBAC and as I get closer to my due date I am getting scared and have a lot of questions. I am never rushed, they are very knowledgeable, they give me everything they say written down on paper or in packets with important numbers to call, statistics, what I can and can't take for a cold and other aliments, what I can't eat, etc etc.
I can't say enough about them. I have met most of them and I am confident in them to safely deliver my baby.
