Sprinkle for a 3rd baby
What are your thoughts????? I would NEVER want one if I was having another boy....but I think I would like one now that I'm having a girl! I don't need a whole lot, but a few important items yes, so I would totally appreciate the help.....What do you girls think?

I think as long as it's thrown FOR you, not you throwing it yourself, it's perfectly fine.

Sprinkle for a 3rd baby
If someone wants to throw one for you on their own, I guess it's fine.
But I would not hope or expect anyone to do this and would not hint at it either. Everyone is different but no one in my family gets sprinkles. You get a baby shower for #1 and that's it....end of story.

Re: Sprinkle for a 3rd baby
I think it is nice for every baby to celebrated. While i would never throw a sprinkle for myself, I would be on board if a family member or friend wanted to. Especially when you are having a different gender.
I am from upstate where you have a small shower for each baby. I was suprised when I came to Long Island and only baby #1 is celebrated..seems strange to me.

This my friend had one last year for her 4th.. her first was a girl then she had 3 boys in a row... but she pretty much thought she was done so she didnt have anything.
ETA: i just want to clarify that she did not throw it for herself...

Agreed!!! And I think people would want to celebrate your little girl with you!! You'll get a ton of clothing etc. If someone is going to plan it for you I say there is nothing wrong with celebrating each baby!!!

Re: Sprinkle for a 3rd baby
my mom/sister are throwing my a sprinkle - this is #2 and opposite sex from #1 and DS will be almost 3 when DD arrives!
my thinking is that if people want to be generous and gift you things and have a celebration, why turn it down? a baby a certainly a reason to celebrate

I'm not a fan of sprinkle/shower after thr first, but i did have a sprinkle for my 3rd(which was my 3rd girl) and was thrown a work sprinkle for my 4th( a boy).
If someone if throwing if for you and your not throwing it, why not.

for my family
shower = go all out. invite family, friends, coworkers etc. Have it at a restaurant, invitations, favors etc.
sprinkle = small, close family and friends only. at someone's home, home cooked, cake, wine. more word of mouth than "invitation" and people can bring gifts or just come hang out. registry by request.

Re: Sprinkle for a 3rd baby
I know someone who's mother threw them a "sprinkle" for their third baby which was a girl and she had two boys previously. but she only invited very immediate family and a few friends.

Sprinkle for a 3rd baby
I generally am not a fan of sprinkles, but I guess they can be OK only if the baby is a different gender than the previous baby. Even then, I certainly wouldn't register. I've only been to one sprinkle and most of the gifts were clothes and hallmark kinda gifts. Other than clothes, I'm not sure you'd really get any essentials. If I was going to a sprinkle after having previously gone to a shower for another baby, I wouldn't buy a car seat or anything like that... maybe an outfit or two.
What kind of important items would you be hoping for?

diapers, bottles, clothing, blankets, swaddles - essentials. you can register without including larger items

Re: Sprinkle for a 3rd baby
I definitely wouldn't throw it for myself but I think it's really nice when your family or friends do it for you, and I have no problem attending them either...I am expecting twins and for example I only have boy stuff for my DS and only one of each item. I keep thinking, what if I need all girl stuff? And I know I will need extra bouncers, car seats etc. Since you are having a girl I think it would be nice. People don't have to go overboard.

Re: Sprinkle for a 3rd baby
Not a fan of sprinkles, in our family, you get a shower, that's it. The babies after that are celebrated when they arrive, and we did get gifts for them.
Anything else I needed, I bought myself. But I just re-used the car seat, highchair etc, from the first child.

I was hoping for diapers and wipes most of all...lol I will also need another car seat and pack and play. those are the only 2 large items I need. I did register but there are only 20 items in the registry.
