spotting.....
I'm 8 weeks pregnant.....I spotted a little today (sorry for TMI.....a brownish color).....should I be concerned? did this happen to anyone else early on?
My first OB appt is Wednesday at 8AM, but if it happens again by tomorrow I guess I'll call them.

Re: spotting.....
It's totally normal early in pregnancy; as long as its not bright red. Most of the time its dried blood, nothing to worry about, if you'll feel better, call your OB.

Re: spotting.....
I would call the doctor in the am to put your mind at ease. the worse thing i know from my own expeirences is sit there and wonder what if. So call them and im sure they will get you in earlier. Meanwhile drink a lot of water and put your feet up. If its not accompanied by cramping and isnt turning bright red its usually a good sign.

Re: spotting.....
I spotted twice while I was pregnant - once bright red and the other time dark red (like menstrual blood). The baby was fine. This happened at 7 weeks and 9 weeks. Try not to worry. I'm sure everything is fine.

Re: spotting.....
Brown spotting is totally normal during pregnancy and totally harmless. As long as it isn't bright red, and you aren't experiencing bad cramping, you're fine

Re: spotting.....
spotting is very normal... i had 3 times of spotting 7w,8w, 10w... after having 2 mc' last year i was a little concerned but knew its very normal... as long as its not heavy and/or includes AF strong cramps then you should have to worry... when i would get it id kick my legs up on the couch and drink extra water(incase it was a dehydration issue)

Re: spotting.....
Helen, I had bleeding last week at 9 weeks, they did a sono and baby is fine. It went away overnight, but then last night it did it again. My doctor asked if this would be the time I would normally get my period, and it is. If you are really worried, call the doctor. They will do a sono to make sure everything is ok. If you need anything, FM me.

Re: spotting.....
helen - i had 3 instances of spotting.... it is normal - but it can't hurt to let the doctor know...
may i ask a personal ?? - were you going to the bathroom (number 2)?? I read it online and my doc told me that if you are struggling to go number 2 - that can happen...

I actually was! damn those prenatal pills clogging up the system!
but then it did happen again when I came home from the job interview, and that was just #1....I'll see if it happens again the next time I pee!

Re: spotting.....
spotting is not only totally normal early on, but very common. the brownish spotting is usually just old blood. As long as it's not bright red and heavy, and most importantly, not combined with cramping, it's usually fine. I spotted twice in my first trimester. Both times over the course of a few days. But was all safe and sound in there. But if you want to call your doc to ease your mind by all means do, it's totally understandable to be worried when anything and everything happens throughout your pregnancy....we're mommies already, even though they're not here yet so the worrying is par for the course.

Re: spotting.....
two out of the 3 times i had spotting, it was from 'struggling'.... If it happened from that 'time you went'...it can carry over until you go to the bathroom a few more times.... I would call today/tonight 1 instance of spotting, you know??

Re: spotting.....
I had some brown spotting in my first pregnancy at about 8 weeks. It lasted for 2 or 3 days & then just disappeared on its own. My OB put me on bedrest for a week to be safe.
If it's a small amount, brown, & not accompanied by cramping, they may not rush you in before Wednesday, but definately call tomorrow anyway & let them know!

Re: spotting.....
I would call the doctor. When I spotted last pregnancy, I had a sono and I was apologizing to the sonographer, saying I know it's normal to spot in early pregnancy. He actually said that it's never "normal" to bleed in pregnancy - it happens quite often, and everything is probably fine, but it's best to get checked out.
Good luck to you.

Re: spotting.....
Its common this early on. Unless you have cramping and lots of blood, it is probably ok. I had this on and off all throughout weeks 5 through 8 of my pregnancy and it was never anything problematic. I am now in my 13th week and all is well- no bleeding since I was 8 wks.

Re: spotting.....
Same thing happened to me at around week 8 in my pregnancy. Everything was fine, but I still called the Dr. Mine happened b/c I was working out and had sex... I guess too much, but sometimes it happens. Call your Dr anyway and try not to do too much either

Helen, i have had spotting so far 4 times this pregnancy, and it was even more than spotting it was full out bleeding at times, but i never had cramping, and brown spotting is completely normal in pregnancy, i wouldnt worry just go to your appointment and relax. Call if it will make you feel more at ease.

Re: spotting.....
Totally normal and brown spotting is a good thing. Red can be worrisome. spotted a few times in my first trimester - one time it was bright red! - and all is fine. But it's always safe to call to be sure.

I'd call the DR just to make him aware, but its totally normal. I spotted for two weeks straight. They told me just to take it easy until it stopped.
