I would absolutely find it offensive and I'd be mortified if my DH/SO did that! I also have some Euro-trash relatives who would do that kind of thing, hence they're not on my list of "favorite" relations!
He just sounds like a prat. Your pizza and ice cream offer for the kids was lovely, and he sounds charmless
The appropriate thing -if he really hates pizza or whatever -would have been for him to run in somewhere on the way and buy his own damn grilled chicken sandwich.
*I also see that this was after a full workday for you so that's really got me annoyed; if it were a weekend or I were a SAHM it'd probably be no big deal (still RUDE of him, but I'd be more likely to accomodate it!)
