Spinoff to Schedule

When do you typically eat supper? Is your dinnertime different or similar to what it was when you were growing up? Do you eat earlier on weekends?

It seems like a number of you eat dinner after 6. I actually leave work at 6 and we typically don't have supper until 7-7:30 - which I find to be REALLY late. I remember when I was growing up we at dinner no later than 5pm and on weekends we do not eat later than 5pm.

Growing up we always ate anywhere between 5 and 6. FH and I definitely eat later, but that's because I get home later. We're usually eating by 7pm.

Growing up we ate b/w 5:30 and 6.

Now DH and I try to eat by 7pm. But by the time we get home and start dinner it's already 6-ish and depending on how long dinner takes to make we sometimes don't eat until 7:30.

Growing up dinner was at 6pm.

DH and I eat about 6:30pm now. Same on weekends. Sometimes later if we are meeting up with friends.

Usually around 6-6:30. I can't eat after 7:30PM.

I have no recollection whatsoever of what time we ate dinner growing up!! Probably around the same time since my mom worked 9-5 in NYC.

We usually eat somewhere between 6:30-7:30 depending on when we get home and how long dinner takes.

The earliest we get home is 7, so we usually eat before 8pm.

lately, it has been around 6:30-7...sometimes, we wait until the baby goes to sleep and we eat closer to 8

Growing up we ate about 5ish. DH and I eat around 6:30. I find that if I eat dinner before 6 then I snack too much at night!

Growing up we ate around 5:30 -6 from what I remember.

We eat dinner now between 6:30-7 b/c that is when DH gets home from work. I think thats a little late, I could eat at 4:30-5 when I get home and be fine for the rest of the night.

I'm always hungry when I get home and find myself munching on things and then I don't finish my dinner.

Growing up we ate between 5:00-5:30pm. It helped that my parents worked in the same town we lived in.

Before we shortened our commutes, we ate at 7:30-8:00pm. Now we eat around 6:00-6:30pm.

I prefer to eat between 5:30-6.
Its usually later...sometimes I work until 8:30.

Growing up, we ate dinner around 6:30. DH and I rarely leave work before 7:00. Sometimes we grab dinner in the city before we go home. But if we are eating at home, it's usually not until 8:00 or later.

As a kid, we never ate later then 6.

Now, dh adn i eat by 5:30, maybe 5:45. He is home first and I am usually straving by the time I get home, so we just eat.

Growing up I guess we ate dinner between 6 and 7.

Now we don't get home before 7 so very often we eat dinner around 8 or so. Before I was pregnant, we ate dinner at 9 most nights!

Growing up, we usually ate between 6:30 and 7:00.
Now we usually eat between 7:30-8:00 because DH doesnt get home until 7:30 and I want the family to eat together like my family did growing up.

As a kid we always ate at 6-6:30.

Now, DH does not get home until after 7, so its anywhere between 7 and 8.

I eat later because I like to be able to sit and enjoy my dinner after my daughter goes to bed. She needs to eat by like 5:15-5:30 and if I eat that early, I'd be starving by bed time.

I am starving by 6:30 and DH doesn't get home until 7:30, sometimes 8pm so I always cook, eat first, clean up and make his plate, and then sit with him while he eats when he gets home. I just cant eat that late!! Growing up we probably ate around 6, 6:30 also.

I don't remember what time we ate growing up - whatever time my dad got home from work, I suppose. Maybe around 6:30?

I don't get home from work until 8-9pm. Dinner time is whenever I get home.

On weekends we eat whenever we feel like it. Usually late, because we won't eat lunch until 3 or 4, otherwise we skip lunch and have an early dinner. And extra dessert later.

Dh and I typically eat between 5-6pm. I work and live in queens so i am home by 4:30pm everyday. I am able to have dinner ready by 5-5:30. Growing up, we would eat about 6-6:30 being that both my parents worked.

Wife is home by 3:30. I am home by 4:45. We typically eat by 5:30.

When I was growing up, my father didnt get home from work until 7. We waited for him to come home before we sat down to dinner around 7:30. Mom thought it would be disrespectful not to wait to eat with the man who put the food on the table. I tend to agree with her.

DH is usually home by 6:30 or 7. He tends to give me a heads up as to when he will be home and dinner is usually on the table wihin 20 minutes of when he walks through the door. During the school year and through summer school, I am home by no later than 4 pm. I have an hour or so to decompress and start dinner.

It is very important to me to have family meals. I don't know how it is going to play out for us once we have children, but if my mom can do it with 4 kids, I think I can make it work given my hours.
