Spinoff to early crib to bed switch
If you moved your little one on the early side - did you put them in a regular twin/double bed?
I'm debating putting the box spring and mattress on the floor for dd who will switch shortly after turning 2.
Can't decide if that's safer or just ghetto? I will get a guard rail too

Spinoff to early crib to bed switch
We switched DS to a twin. We thought about the toddler bed but it just didn't make sense as he was always bumping into side int he crib so that wouldn't change in the toddler bed. His bed is in a corner and we added and extra long rail on one side. We have drawers under for storage since his room is TINY!!!
He has fallen out a few times but never hurt.

We changed DD just after she was 2 1/2 bc she was climbing out of her crib. Her crib converted to a full size bed but it has slats and has no need for a box spring. It' is lower where she is able to get in and out herself. It's against the wall, but we put a guard rail on the other side. She loves her big girl bed. We skipped right over the toddler bed.

I would not switch unless it's an issue. We are just using crib as toddler bed.

Spinoff to early crib to bed switch
We switched DS on his 2nd birthday to a toddler bed. I switched my twins a few months prior at 3 years 2 months and DS was so p!ssed he refused to sleep. I wound up putting him in bed with the twins for a while and he slept all night. So we made the switch at 2.

We put Dd in a full mattress on the floor just the mattress when she was 18 months. Then added the box spring maybe a year later and she went to full bed frame just before her 3 birthday.
