I'm with Ophelia. I think most people get too self-absorbed about their wedding day and don't realize life is going on around them, regardless if it's "their day" or not.
We had an ailing uncle and his wife renew their vows at my wedding reception.  (We had 2 priests/family friends at the reception.) I was so happy for them that they had the opportunity to do so with all of their family surrounding them (they lived in FL and didn't see family often.) That uncle passed a couple of months later, so I know how much it meant to all of my family to be a part of that. It never once crossed my mind that they detracted from the day. In fact, it only added to the joy and celebration.

This is a nice story. I do think it is different than your cousin, friend, relative proposing to his GF at your wedding.

There are plenty of threads that I am like , but obviously the original poster had something they wanted to say. so it was started. Hence the whole purpose of the message board.

i agree. and i think it depends on the person too. like if its a cousin you cant stand and they've been dating 3 months then thats one thing, but if it were your sister and they've been together for years and it finally happened for her then yes i'd be thrilled!
eta: regarding the topic of seeing another bride on my wedding day, that i think is cool! you found someone who has the same exact anniversary date as you! there was only one other wedding going on at my hall on my day and i saw the bride walk by and we stopped and congratulated each other. no clue who this girl was but it was just a nice thing to do! i dont feel like she would've stolen my thunder. she was having her own celebration.
however, i know a few brides to be who cringe at the thought of ANYONE on the face of the earth getting married on their day. very unrealistic and childish IMO.

I am also of the "who cares" variety.
My husband didn't even get mad when me and this fella stole th ethunder with our claymation donkey show.
My friend told me at my baby shower that she was pregnant- best. news. ever.
But can I join the commision to approve the requests to start a thread? because clearly there need to be regulations.
