Spinoff: Crazy Hours
With all the GS talk about working an insane amount of hours, I am curious for those that work in an office or other type of professional environment, how many hours everyone works per week. How much time to you put in?

Re: Spinoff: Crazy Hours
To answer my own poll. I work a little over 50 hours per week, and i think my hours are awesome. But I used to work about 70 so this is a huge improvement.

Re: Spinoff: Crazy Hours
I used to have crazy hours and a job that required a lot of travel. Including overseas traveling.
I went back to school and made a career change, So now I work 8 hour days with tons of days off and I have to admit that sometimes I am bored! I don't think I would ever want to go back to my old career, but sometimes I miss the corporate world...crazy hours and all!

Re: Spinoff: Crazy Hours
I am supposed to work 35 hours a week but lately its been 45-50.
It doesn't sound like a lot, but with an addiotional 10-12 hours commuting, it's tiring.

Re: Spinoff: Crazy Hours
Never more than 40, no overtime, no weekends. It is one of the main reasons I stay here. For me, I don't want to work more for more $$. I am fine with my salary and not really willing to work extra hours.

Re: Spinoff: Crazy Hours
Mostly- 45 to 50... but, I am always checking email, etc. and sometimes I am required to work the weekend, which I did last weekend and sometimes I am required to be here VERY late-- so I can work a 70 to 80 hour week too.
ETA-- I commute about 40 mins each way too.

Re: Spinoff: Crazy Hours
Where I am now, I work a typical 9-5 day. I'm usually in though by 8:30 and once in a blue moon I work until 6:00.
My previous job, I worked 12-14 hour days.

The commute really does factor into it, doesn't it...
Add on another 15 hours/wk

I am not currently working and so did not answer your poll, but when I recently was (at a law firm) I was at the point where i was billing 300 hrs/ mo. That averages out to 75 hrs per week but, since I did not bill every hour i worked I would say it would be 80hrs plus. It was miserable and not worth the $$$ and, thus, why i left
That was my life to a tee for 3 years until I finally switched firms (to a mid-sized firm). My life is so much better now! Working 70+ hours/week is no way to live IMO!

Yes, it does. That's why my boss let's us work remotely sometimes. Although I got word that it may change. They are putting a new office manager in and giving her the responsibility of attendance.
If you factor in the commute I work 75 hrs a week sometimes.
