Re: Spinal muscular Atrophy
I totally know what you are going through as our NT scan did not go well. We ended up choosing to go with the amino. For us it was what we needed, but this is such a personal decision. In the end we felt we would be better prepared if we were more certain of the outcome. Try to stay possitive. Most likely your baby will be fine.

Re: Spinal muscular Atrophy
I spoke to a couple who were told after there amnio that the baby had downs, they chose to keep the baby the baby was born completely normal,
+ An amnio told them the child had downs and it didnt? I am really confused by this. I have heard the AFP test can show that the child has downs and the amnio showed it in fact did not. But never heard other way around, are you sure she didnt get it mixed up?

they said they were told by testing that there was a high possibility there child could have down syndrome they had the amnio which confirmed what the tests were, sorry, just repeating someones story they told to me I think she is confused- from what my dr told me and research an amnio tests for downs and 88 other genetic tests( which 1 of them is spinal muscular atrophy without you asking or knowing) . It comes back positive or neg if comes back positivie you go for a second amnio tests, from what I was told they are factual not high chance.
that is why an amnio is done- its definitive.
I just saw my dr. this tues and spoke to him about this too regarding the amnio I wanted to know if I was tested for it, he said yes it is part of the genetic testing.
