Something is REALLY bothering me
and I'm not sure if I can do anything about it. I go to a local nail salon on a regular basis. The owner of the salon is SOOOOOOOOOO mean to the employees. I mean she constantly yells at them, puts them down, all in front of the customers. I really want to report her because some of the things she says are totally inappropriate, to me it borders some kind of harrassment. The problem is I'm afraid to do anything because I'm pretty sure many of the employees are not legal, and they work so hard for I'm sure measly pay.
But I feel I have to do SOMETHING. Part of me doesn't want to go there anymore, but I really like the workers and I feel bad. I don't want to give this witch any more money.
Just for an example, I was getting a pedicure yesterday and the girl who was doing my nails had my file and other tools she was USING on me, the owner walks by and says didn't I tell you to keep everything clean, you're a housewife, you should know better . I almost fell off the chair. There has been worse.
Can I really do anything about her harrassment to the workers? It's really been bothering me.

Re: Something is REALLY bothering me
I would definitely speak up --- how dare she speak to other human beings this way? As a paying customer your comments should make an impression on her.....not that they will, but when I have been in this kind of a situation (at Wendy's the Mgr. yelling at the drive thru girl to hurry up & give me my change - I called him over and told him HE was obnoxious and out of line and that I would not be returning because he obviously does not want his customers to get the right change and good service) I have spoken up.
May help, may not, but at least you can try....

Re: Something is REALLY bothering me
I don't know if there's a lot, but if you wrote her a letter explaining that her poor treatment of the workers has made you decide to go elsewhere and tell her that you suggest that others you know do the same.
If you were really nervy, you could wear a sign in front of the place! There's a woman in my town who's been picketing the Honda dealership in my town for WEEKS, wearing a big sign that says "Liars, Crooks, Thieves" Don't know if anyone's been dissuaded but it makes you think...

Re: Something is REALLY bothering me
How about approaching the owner and telling her how you feel. Tell her that you have spoken with other regular customers as well and you all agreed that her way of handling her employees is not professional at all and neither humane. Tell her that some of the customers have decided not to come back to the salon because of this as it makes them uncomfortable. Tell her that this same customer who said that she wasn't coming back thought about making a report about this. If you feel that you can't perhaps talk to this person face to face, I'd write a letter to the owner and express your concerns and also that you will not be returning there if she/he doesn't start treating them differently. I'd send the letter anonimously...if this makes you feel more comfortable.

Re: Something is REALLY bothering me
I'd stop going to that salon but first say to the owner, I love the work your employees do and I hope to see them at another salon soon. I do not like the way you treat them and talk to them and you are no longer going to get my business. You are the reason.

Re: Something is REALLY bothering me
I would say it right there to her face in front of the employees and other customers. Tell her that you go their to get your nails done and relax and her attitude makes you feel uncomfortable and to not talk to her employees that way.
As a side note, if you did report her most liekly nothing would happen in the way of the employees getting deported, etc.

OMG! what a total beyotch! I would tell the owner straight to her face "thanks to you and the horrible way you treat your employees, not only will I never come back here, but I will tell everyone I know not to come here. have a nice day!"
I would NEVER go there again!

Re: Something is REALLY bothering me
By any chance, is this salon in Copaigue? I used to live nearby and go to a place where the owner was the same way. I loved the workers there, but I actually stopped going there b/c of the owner. She was so mean to the workers.
She even had the nerve to say to me "What happened to your face?" in front of everyone there, when I was having an allergic reaction to something and my face broke out. How embarrassing!
I will never go back there again, and I wish I had that b*lls to tell her that she's the reason why!
