Soda addicts question for you girls
Have you decreased the amount of soda you drink once you got pregnant? If so, how much do you think now? Or, have you not changed anything. I am really trying not to drink soda but its sooo hard since I loove soda. Granted, I only drink caffeine free soda but I know soda is not good.

Re: Soda addicts question for you girls
I am a total diet pepsi addict its literally all I drink. Now that I'm pregnant I have cut down but not by what I should I try to get juices and water in but still drink a lot of soda. The drs know how much I drink and just tell me to try to add water in. My sister drinks way more soda then me and never changed a thing throughout her 5 pregnancies and all 5 kids are fine at 18 yrs 16 yrs 11 yrs 9 yrs and 6 yrs

Re: Soda addicts question for you girls
I could live on diet coke but I gave it up for my first pregnancy and again this pregnancy. I miss it so much, but I don't want the chemicals to get to the baby. I'll probably allow myself one diet soda at Thanksgiving and one on Christmas. I drink a lot of seltzer now and regular water. One in a blue moon I drink juice but I hate drinking my calories.

I would guess reg. caffeine free soda since diet soda contains all that artificial sugars and such.

Re: Soda addicts question for you girls
With both my pregnancies I changed to regular soda. I lower my amount ( I was having say 3 cans a day prior to prenancy) With DS1 I kept up with 2-3cans a day! With DS2 the ONLY thing I could drink without being sick was water so it didnt matter much! I did have the occasional soda even though I would feel gross after just because I missed it!

Re: Soda addicts question for you girls
I have soda if I go out to dinner. Probably have it about 2x a week. I've been drinking water and iced tea, so thats my caffeine.

Re: Soda addicts question for you girls
I am a Diet Pepsi addict. I gave it up completely. If I am eating out, I'll have a sprite every now and then.
If I need something bubbly, I'll get fruit sparkling water or the San Pellegrino orange "soda..ish drink" soo yummy!!

Re: Soda addicts question for you girls
I actually started drinking MORE soda since being pregnant.
In the beginning, the only thing that I could tolerate was ginger ale. Even now that the nausea is gone the only thing that I ever really drink is sprite. I try to drink some juice or decaf hot tea at least once a day too. Water just makes me so sick. I know it sounds funny, but I swear it's the truth. I've tried adding lemon or lime or anything to make it better, but it makes me feel so crappy that I don't push it.

Re: Soda addicts question for you girls
I cut out diet coke completely after my bfp but, I now have one regular coke a day as my caffeine. If I go out, I will occasionally have a Sprite but, I usually just drink water or seltzer.

Re: Soda addicts question for you girls
I haven't really changed the amount that I drink. It's usually 1-2 cans a day. But if I have coffee in the morning I try really hard to keep it to 1.

Re: Soda addicts question for you girls
Ive cut out almost all soda. I'll have a Sprite if we go out - but thats rare. I've substituted a lot of seltzer - sometimes Ill mix it with juice for more taste. I could have lived on Diet Coke before, but soda and diet soda have no nutrition, and the high fructose corn syrup in everything worries me. Soda was actually easy to cut out. Honestly after 6 months, I dont really miss my Diet Cokes that much at all.

It's all I drink all day everyday. I have hyperemesis and Coca-Cola Classic is all that will stay down. I swear if it wasn't for the calories in it I would continue to lose weight. My docs have never said anything. My mother also only drank coke with me and with my dd that's all I drank as well. I am hydrated and baby looks great. Do I rec. it? 100% no, but you do what you have to do to get the hydration you need. Say what you want about caffine dehydrating you, but my urine is clear and they always say how hydrated I am. I have tried everything else and nothing will stay down or sounds good. I do drink the ocassional vernors, sprite, dr. pepper and sometimes water, but I drink my daily hydration as coke.

at least Im not alone on this one. Only thing is that I have cut out the caffeine. But hey, like you said, you gotta do what you gotta do to do what works for you.

Re: Soda addicts question for you girls
I cut down the amount of soda I drink significantly (Coke Classic) after I found out I was pregnant. I probably drank a good 10-30 oz before depending on how tired I was. Considering that is my only source of caffeine - I was pretty miserable (and probably no fun to be around either!) for a few weeks. Now it is only if I need a pick me up or a boost and even then a few sips is an eye opener! (I'm at 30 weeks) I drink a lot more water than I used to, but I've always been a big water drinker. I do also drink the occassional gingerale when I want something bubbly, but don't need the caffeine kick! good luck with whatever you do!

Re: Soda addicts question for you girls
I'm 13 weeks and gave up all soda but it was easy for me since I only drink about a can a day.
I did however have a 1/2 can the other night at dinner. It was staring at me from the fridge

Re: Soda addicts question for you girls
I drink a can or a glass of soda when I want it. I dont go crazy. I try to stick with sprite bc its caffeine free but i love a glass of pepsi if we go out for dinner. LOVE fountain sodas! it's something I have always craved even before pregnancy. I would go through drive-throughs just for a soda. YUM!

Re: Soda addicts question for you girls
I used to hardly ever drink soda but after getting preg, I just crave coke now. So every 2 or 3 days, I have a can of soda. I think you are allowed 2 cans a day.

I've been drinking 1/2 lemonade, 1/2 sparkling water. It cuts down the sugar and also gives that fizzy taste.

Re: Soda addicts question for you girls
I never drank soda but since getting PG it is what I CRAVE! I crave it! Whenever I have that craving I give in....usually with a caffeine free if I can find it. I figure if my body is asking me for it there's something in it that it wants. (probably all that sugar!)
