K-mart is. I used to have to work on it too. There are actually quite a few stores open on Thanksgiving.

Re: So, what store will give in first....

its crazy
i worked at waldbaum's and we were open for every holiday until 3PM and some people were so understanding and other people were like "well people need to buy food on holidays too"

i may be young but even I remember when EVERYTHING was shut down on Sundays and SOMEHOW SOMEWAY people survived until the next day

it is just part of this I NEED IT NOW! culture, so sad!

yes, i will admit that i have run into a store on a holiday - but if it were closed, then we wouldnt have cranberry sauce that year. . . oh well.

it probably depends on where you grew up - i know that on LI some towns' stores still all close on sundays, although most don't.

I can totally understand a supermarket or pharmacy being open on Thanksgiving but Dollar Tree??? Are you serious??

I dont get it. These stores are so money hungry Chat Icon Their employees have families too.

I am 24 and I remember having to RUN to the bakery to buy bread before noon because that was when they closed on Sundays and that was really the only place open - we always had to go right after church.

I grew up in Queens

Re: So, what store will give in first....

I live in NJ (Bergen County) where we still have blue laws. Retail stores are closed on Sunday.

However...stores like Walgreens are always open. BJ's is open, but you can't buy certain items on Sundays...you can buy food/water, but not toys/clothing/electronics, etc.

When I worked in retail...I always volunteered to work the holidays....double time and a half! Got paid for the holiday (whether you worked or not), and then time and a half for actually working that day. I always made out great Chat Icon Chat Icon

We are not open on Thanksgiving. We are closed Thanksgiving Christmas new years and Easter.

I don't mind working the holidays. I usually don't have to cause I am full time but even If I did on holidays like July 4th we are only open until 1
