So What Did Everyone Do This First Weekend Of Spring?
We were in the yard the whole weekend. We cut up the tree that fell in our backyard on Saturday and Sunday we cleaned out all the flower beds and pruned some trees. We still have more to do this coming weekend, but not too much. It was so gorgeous out this weekend and now we have to have rain today and tomorrow. 
We even BBQ'd Saturday. I love that smell.

Saturday ran errands and went to the cemetery. Started spring cleaning of the house.
Yesterday cleaned out my flower beds, did some light pruning and planted pansies.
I'm sore today.

We had trees cut down last week (before the storm thankfully). DH dug up a lot of the roots. He also got on the roof and cleaned the gutters.
I took some really long walks with DS.
We also went to Walmart and Lowes and picked up some flower pots and some garden tools for DH.

worked saturday *unfort  but i did clean the house Friday night early sat morning. Sunday food shopping, tried out my new vacuum and bagged four huge bags of garbage/dead leaves from the backyard.
We have basically a pit of rotted trash from the prev. owners (we cleaned out the big stuff a few months back) now we are working on the dead/rotted/halfway decomposed items. Found a few old beer cans, a pepsi can from the 70s', styrofoam with a colony of snails living on, asbestos shingles, trimmed a ton of bushes back but we have to dig them out but baby steps.

Jenn your previous owners must have known our previous owners. We are still trying to fix up our yard because of them. And we still are finding kids toys when we garden, it's sort of funny at this point. I can wait until we pull up our deck and see what is under there. I'm sure it's going to be a mess of garbage.

hahah yea i never could understand why people use their yards as a garbage heap/ How hard is it to put stuff out on the curb?

We cut down a TON of the giant, overgrown hedges around our hideous, 1970s car port. It took the whole weekend and we still have to dig up the roots but it already makes a huge difference.
Now we just need to get someone to help us tear down that car port!! Then on to the rest of the hedges... and someday we will have a nice yard!

 for some it must be very hard. It wasn't just their 4 kids that did this, it was the parents too. I guess they were lazy and it was easier to throw the beer bottle through a hole in the deck then it would have been for them to get up and throw it out in the garbage pail. I hate cleaning up after other people.

We did some small stuff like
*replacing the light fixtures for the front door and back door,
*cleaned and used the hand me down bbq we got
*cleaned up the sticks and branches that fell off my ginormous tree in my backyard, along with a half eaten mouse
*set up the patio furniture since we wanted to sit outside in the nice weather!
Next up is cleaning the overgrown bushes and trees in the backyard and finding a way to grow some grass since the tree in the backyard covers most of the backyard in shade. Oh and I want to get some flowers for the flowerbeds too.

we waited all these years for our own home....after doing yard work, i remember why we rented...lol.
it was great being outside and spending time in the yard. we still have much to prime so it's back inside this week!

I hear ya on that one. My body aches after two days of yard work. Every time I get up from my desk I'm reminded of what I did over the weekend.
But in the end, we loving owning our own Home. It's a great feeling when everything is all nice looking and you can sit and enjoy it.

Ugh me too! Pulling weeds is like doing 39042890358029385 squats!
Soooooo, we cleaned the house, opened up the windows, swept the patio, and sprayed weed killer between all the pavers. I had a ZILLION weeds in there...
And then started on the front beds...I have about 3 solid days left of CLEANING the beds before I can even plant...
Which speaking of, what day are we all planting? 5/8? 5/9? 5/16?

Around those dates depending on the weather. I can't wait to see some color in our yard. Forget about color first, I need grass in my backyard. First things first. So we will probably do that before any flowers.

This made me laugh b/c its so true. Except instead of pulling weeds this weekend, I bent down to pick up a million branches and twigs.
We made the piles on Saturday and then picked them all up on Sunday.
We will do a little each weekend b/c there is just so much to do at once! It's so cute to see everything starting to bud already and to see what's starting to come back this season.
It's all hard work and upkeep but we  it!

yea this year is destroy all living things in the yard, next year rebuild (we hope) I said to DH we should just buy some pots and just put some flowers in their just to put in the front of the house so it won't look so scary.
Honestly our house looks SCARY in the summer and we are just waiting for all the hostas to come out so we can remove most of them since they are HUGE and its too much.

I'd leave some of the jungle for privacy's purposes, but thats just me! I hate how I feel like everyone can see into my house!

Saturday went over my MIL to do some spring cleaning at her house. Then on Sunday I watched DS play in our yard while DH did some weeding and light yard work.
