So washable toilet paper is a thing??
I thought this was a joke. But it's a real Etsy shop? And the reviews are real? Is this real?
And they call it the Family Cloth on top of everything else? The Family Cloth? I just threw up in my mouth.
This can't be real. Can it?
Washable toilet paper/Family Cloth
Oh and the washing instrcutions- If used during period, rinse with cold water to remove all the blood.
I hate to say it but the period blood would even be the least disgusting of things that can stain this stuff and that is pretty bad.

If it eases the grossness for you, I think (sincerely hope) most people would use it in conjunction with a bidet attachment. I could see that being not so bad if you're really eco conscious. I remember reading about that while researching cloth diapers. I couldn't even get myself to do those.

Hmm that has to be it. It has to be. Because how on earth would you even wash that? I mean I'm sorry but that's just beyond a mess. Not to mention it can't be sanitary.
So like you wash up on the bidet and use that more to wipe/dry.
Either way, not for me!

There's a family in my neighborhood who produces no garbage. And toilet paper was one of things that I lie awake at night thinking about when I see their lack of garbage pails. Now I can rest easy at night knowing this is what they're taking care of #2 with. ACK!!!!

See I'm all for helping the environment and reducing waste etc but when it comes to basic sanitary functions I don't know. We have come this far for a reason. People used to get all kinds of nasty illness like cholera and stuff back when we didn't have disposable toilet paper and what not. I can't imagine having to launder toilet paper. To me it seems like it's just asking for cross contamination and infection. And imagine someone has a stomach bug? I'm sorry but it's just a bit too much for me.
And doesn't TP mostly dissolve to nothing? I use the 1 ply Scotts because the plumber said it's safest for septic pipes, and that stuff practically dissolves before you flush it!

Re: So washable toilet paper is a thing??
So it is supposed to be better for the environment, but what about all the water that is being used to wash the TP, and the energy required to run the washing machine ?

so there was a documentary called "No Impact Man" about a guy living in Manhattan with his wife and kid and they lived without producing garbage for a year. I think they were just washing towels for toilet paper if memory serves. It's actually a fascinating watch. I may watch again! Thanks for this thread op! And happy flushing all!

So what did they wash them in- you can't use detergent right? Because it comes in a bottle that will end up as waste.

This reminds me of the post of the reusable tampon.
I could never...
I will do my part by not using straws.... No plastic bags. And recycle any plastic/glass.

Borax is actually a pretty harsh chemical. And it comes in a box. What to do with the box? Maybe they eat it for fiber.

i literally am out on the beach picking up shit all year. i bring metal straws to restaurants. all that.
but this? nope.
i'm thinking of telling dh about this product (he thinks i'm a maniac as it is) and playing a practical joke on him that we're going green in the bathroom!!!!

Try it! You will never go back to just TP hahaha! If it’s the type with the knob to turn just turn it really slowly...if you crank the knob, the water comes out really fast and that can hurt.

LOL that has been the fear that is holding me back! I worry about getting a harsh spray of hard water right up my ass!

We are pretty "green" and in our house (composting, no paper towels, reusable containers for everything, etc), but no thanks.
You can buy a toilet paper like Scotts that pretty much degrades and causes very little waste. They even sell rolls without the tube to further reduce waste.
