So Upset

Someone put a cash offer on the house we were going to put an offer on TODAY and it was accepted. I'm sitting here at work crying.

I'm so unbelievably upset. I know this happens all the time but I'm devastated. It had just about everything I wanted in a house, great location, and not a stitch of work needed to be done and well within our price point.

I would still put in your offer, you never know, its not like they are in contract yet.

It wasn't the one.

This happened to us-found what we thought was the perfect house, cash offer came in. I was bummed.

Then we found OUR house. It's pretty close to the one we almost bought and every time we take a walk around the neighborhood and pass that house I feel so lucky those cash buyers came in because our house is sooooo much better for us.

I am so so sorry I know just how you feel. We had a deal that was days away from being signed and a cash offer came along and it was for asking. I was so upset for weeks. Then we started to look again and it really worked out for the best for us. We found something nicer for less $$. I know it's hard to think that you will ever find anything as good but I promise you will. Hang in there!

I actually agree that you might want to still make an offer. It couldn't hurt. I wouldn't want to get into a bidding war, but they can always hold it as a back up. You never know if the buyers will back out before they go to contract (they may find another home, back out after an inspection, etc.).


It's hard to compete with a cash offer, but sometimes other terms come into play. You never know, and you don't have anything to lose.

Still try to submit your offer. People lie about cash offers all the time. Or maybe their terms won't be great when contract talks arise. Still try to get it if you want it badly. You never know.

I would still put an offer in too. My ILs were selling our grandfathers house, had a cash offer that backed out and wound up calling their second offer. Good luck!!

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I'm still upset but I'm much better than before! I think it would be a good idea to still make an offer so tomorrow we'll do that... you never know!

In the meantime we're going to check out some other houses over the weekend.

ITA- Put in an offer anyway! The house we're buying now had a cash offer in and it fell through! Don't lose hope, BUT if it dosen't work out then it wasn't meant to be.

I know it sounds cliche but honestly, you'll know. There's still 1 house that I'm sorry we missed out on but I'm very happy with the one we're buying now. We actually will end up with more property and a better layout

We lost a house to a cash offer and went about our way to find another house. 2 weeks later the realtor called and said it fell through and the sellers want to know if we were still interested.

They wanted too much money though and would not entertain our offer. So too bad on them.
