I took the LIRR from Bayside...the 6.35am train Chat Icon It was packed but otherwise it was fine. I dread the lines at Penn tonight - I am getting myself nervous about it already. Chat Icon

OMG you guys are LUCKY!!!!!!!!!!! What is normally a 35-40 min commute for me was 1 hour, 50 minutes today Chat Icon. They made us line up outside at the Forest Hills LIRR station for an hour! NOT looking forward to tonight at all.

My father was going to take the LIRR-once he saw the line on the news, he took off his shoes and sat on the couch Chat Icon

This is the same reason why I didn't want to take the train and I figured tonight will probably be worst. Some of my friends and I had contingency plans and I drove to Queens and met them there.Chat Icon
So glad that I did that.

ETA>>Syliblond81106...your father has the right idea in mind.

Re: So NYC Workers - Who's in?

My DH said he got in with no problems. He went in early, so no delays on the LIRR. His company had car service at Penn to take them downtown - he was the second person there. Tonight will be worse.

Re: So NYC Workers - Who's in?

I made it into midtown A-OK

I cannot even begin to complain .. I take MetroNorth from Scarsdale. Luckily the conductors did not walk out in "sympathy" so it was business as usual

My trains were running maybe 10 mins late and a tad crowded BUT overall it was a breeze.. I took an earlier train than normal and made it in just on time

Now as for the rest of my co-workers... lets just say I'm probably the only assistant on my floor right now Chat Icon

Re: So NYC Workers - Who's in?

I am not in the city, but I was shocked at how empty the GCP was west-bound when I came eastward this morning. Usually, it is fairly crowded- I wonder if a lot of people stayed home or left WAAAAAY early.

the other 4 lanes were a litl crowded and there was a checkpoint for police to check cars...
