I'm here! I live on the upper east side (at least this week ) and work on Wall Street. I take a van to work. Surprisingly, the roads were EMPTY!! Of course, I also get into work at 6:45

I am in too. I live in Long Island but drove to Queens and from there drove into the city with 3 more passengers.....Not a bad ride at all but I guess it was because I left really early....

I took the LIRR from Bayside...the 6.35am train It was packed but otherwise it was fine. I dread the lines at Penn tonight - I am getting myself nervous about it already.

OMG you guys are LUCKY!!!!!!!!!!! What is normally a 35-40 min commute for me was 1 hour, 50 minutes today . They made us line up outside at the Forest Hills LIRR station for an hour! NOT looking forward to tonight at all.

My father was going to take the LIRR-once he saw the line on the news, he took off his shoes and sat on the couch

This is the same reason why I didn't want to take the train and I figured tonight will probably be worst. Some of my friends and I had contingency plans and I drove to Queens and met them there. So glad that I did that.
ETA>>Syliblond81106...your father has the right idea in mind.

Re: So NYC Workers - Who's in?
My DH said he got in with no problems. He went in early, so no delays on the LIRR. His company had car service at Penn to take them downtown - he was the second person there. Tonight will be worse.

Re: So NYC Workers - Who's in?
I made it into midtown A-OK
I cannot even begin to complain .. I take MetroNorth from Scarsdale. Luckily the conductors did not walk out in "sympathy" so it was business as usual
My trains were running maybe 10 mins late and a tad crowded BUT overall it was a breeze.. I took an earlier train than normal and made it in just on time
Now as for the rest of my co-workers... lets just say I'm probably the only assistant on my floor right now

Re: So NYC Workers - Who's in?
I am not in the city, but I was shocked at how empty the GCP was west-bound when I came eastward this morning. Usually, it is fairly crowded- I wonder if a lot of people stayed home or left WAAAAAY early.
