(The grocery store is so much better than a restaurant ... which is where my DD acts up the most! Chat Icon Chat Icon )

Re: So mortifying....

This has been happening with us a lot lately. I totally feel your pain. I told DH today I don't want to take DD out anymore. She is so bad. When in the cart today she started screaming. I only got her to stop by taking her out and holding her, which lasted a few aisles and then she wanted to walk, which starts a whole other fiasco, because she tries to dart off. In restaurants lately, she refuses the high chair, so we bring a booster, stays in it for a bit then starts screaming she wants out, wants to run around and walk. I am sooo embarrassed with her behavior. I wish I knew how to nip this NOW!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Most of those people staring at you are just either happy they left their kids at home...or are happy that their own kids are behaving (for once)...

I used to have my own issues with the girls acting up in the store. Especially in the supermarket. One of my parenting books suggested just letting them cry and scream...dont give them anything (no cookies, crackers, etc) unless they are behaving...essentially the book said that if they chose to scream for an hour then to let them scream the entire time....You know what? It worked!!!!

As time went by they became better behaved...it's never been smooth sailing but for the most part things have been good..

Dont worry about people starting and being judgemental. Most people arent and the who gives a woot about the ones who are!!!!
