So for Christmas, we found out the baby's gender!
We celebrate on the 24th with our families. Everyone was over at our place. We opened presents early and were done just at midnight. Then DH and I got the envelope, took a video of everyone guessing the baby's gender, then videotaped us opening up the envelope that told us baby #2's sex!
(We were team green with baby #1 which is our DS).
So, without further ado, come this Spring, we will have baby #2 ...........
  
We are so ecstatic! It was truly a beautiful moment to find out that way, which by the way was also my birthday!, in front of all of our closest family.

Honestly, right now I just LOVE that we had both experiences. With DS being a really early preemie, I was so happy we didn't know the sex yet because it was one bright thing to look forward to during a scary experience. And the moment when we found out it was a boy was SOOOOO emotional and special!
And this time, I couldn't imagine a better way to find out early. Christmas is my favorite holiday, it's also my birthday, and we were with our families. So special and very emotional (check the video clip to see me boo hooing, lol!).
So right now, I say BOTH ways are great! We just didn't want to find out early at the sono tech's office. Seemed so blah to us. So this way made it more special for us.

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!! I remember you posting your plan of opening the envelope with family on Christmas and I actually thought of you yesterday wondering how it went! One of each, two years apart...sounds like the perfect family to me!

I printed out two cards before my anatomy scan. Blank on the outside and on the inside one was pink with "It's a girl!" and one was blue with "It's a boy!"
We took them both with a large enough envelope to the anatomy scan. We asked her to choose the right card and seal it in the envelope, and throw away the other one.
So that's what she did! And she included two potty shots in the envelope too where she wrote "Girl!"
Envelope stayed sealed from that moment until we opened for Christmas. Worked out really well!

That's awesome! I didn't know the sonotech would do that for you. I wish I knew about this for my last pregnancy. We are going team  this time.
