Sleeping somewhere else for the first time?

Ever since my DS's first night home from the hospital he's been sleeping in his crib which is in his room. We've ((knock wood)) been blessed with a great sleeper and we are in a great routine!! We have plans soon to stay overnight at my FIL's for two nights. We will be sleeping in the same room as my DS, but otherwise continuing the same nightly routine he's used to. My DS is 3 months old. Should I anticipate this could mess with his routine at all, sleeping in an unfamiliar place? Or at that age is he not likely to know the difference? For what it's worth, my DS is a very mellow, easygoing, 'go with the flow' baby.

Its possible that it could. He may wake up in the middle of the night. But he should be fine. Will he have a pack n play or portable.crib to sleep in?

My dd was 6 months when we took her away and if she woke up i just puther in bed with me and she was fine
When we got we went right back to our usual.routine and we were fine.

My DS slept through the night for the first time on our first trip. You never know.

It honestly can go either way. I have found that sometimes it happens only on the first night bc of the unfamiliar place but then the following nights are fine.

When DD was 3 months, we took her to a friends house in NJ for the weekend. I was really worried about her not sleeping too. However, she was great! We kept her usual routine and instead of sleeping in her crib, we put her in her pnp, which she used for naps at that time anyway. Our DD is also a very easy going, mellow baby, and a great sleeper!

When dd was 3 months we went to boston for the weekend. She slept better there than she had.

We just came back from Florida for 5 days. She slept just as well as she did here....in her baby bjorn travel crib, in new surroundings no less.

They are more adaptable than people give them credit for, it of course it can go either way.

We stayed at my mom's house for 2 nights when DD was 2 months old. She was totally fine in the pack and play..no problems. She wasn't STTN at that point, but her routine stayed the same. She gave me more problems sleeping in the pack and play as she got older, like 8-10 months. Now she's mostly okay with it again.

at 3 months i wouldnt worry too much - just try to keep the routine as close to usual as possible

when dd was around that age she slept at my moms on an occasional Saturday night and she slept better there then anywhere else!
when she was 7 months we had her sleep out and we all got a bad night...she was so aware of her surroundings she knew it wasnt familiar and didnt sleep well.

DS was also a great sleeper and we would take a Rock and Play Sleeper with us when we slept over my sister's out of state. Didn't mess with his flow at all!

DS has slept at my parents house a lot of times and it's never messed up his sleep. Sometimes, in fact, he sleeps longer there than at home! My mom once woke him up because he had been asleep almost 12 hours and she was afraid he was hungry!

Babies are completely adaptable ........you guys will be fine.

and if you're not, and the baby is up ocassionally, you'll deal with it. But I wounldn't anticipate a problem.

We took DS to my parent's vacation hom in Florida for a week when he was 9 weeks. We actually had him sleep in the pack and play in out room the week before so he would be used to sleeping in it in Florida. He did just fine! It was more about the transition from the rock and play to the pack and play/crib flat surface that was hard, not that it was a different house/room.

I would not anticipate any issues. Continue your routine like normal.

We have gone away a few times since ds was born starting when he was 3 months and he did great. Slept with us, slept alone, slept with the twins and he always slept the same.
