Sleeping Issues... HELP!
DS1 slept so well from very early on and continues to do so, so the issues that we are having with DS2 are completely foreign to me.
DS2 catnaps all day long. We very rarely get a good long nap out of him. I don't know how to work on this because he is with the babysitter (in-home private daycare) all day long. I'm also seeing signs of sleep regression at night, so I'm sure the lack of good naps during the day is helping.
Any advise, tips, tricks?? He was doing so well at night up until this weekend when it all went to shiit. HELP!

Sleeping Issues... HELP!
Is he getting stimulated. Most times when I have heard of them sleeping so much during the day is because they are not getting stimulated.

The problem is he's not sleeping during the day at all... 30 mins here and there but no good long naps.
Sorry, I realize my original post is kind of confusing.

I'm in the same boat as you my DD is 4 months and has been a daytime catnapper since she was 6 weeks old. She slept excellent at night until a week or so ago. I have read about sleep regression I think it has to do with growth spurts among other developmental changes at the 4 month mark. She started getting up anywhere from 2am-4am where before this she was sleeping from 8pm until 6am. I think you just have to let it run its course. I have noticed in the past couple of days she seems to be going back to her ususal nighttime sleep pattern

But if they are being stimulated they will not take the short naps and it will be one long or 2 long.
Because they are not stimulated they tend to cat nap.

He sleeps just fine from 7pm-11pm and then it's up every 1 1/2-2hrs. I've been trolling this blog and she's got great advice, I just don't know how to incorporate it when he's at daycare

Is this always true? My son will take longer naps at daycare then he will at home with us or his nanny. I think we stimulate him a lot, but he is obviously more stimulated at daycare...

Is ds waking up in pain? Dd was a cat napper as she woke up from severe gas pains every 20 minutes or so. She was later dx with a milk protein allergy. The formula change did the trick: for the first time she slept in hours-long stretches.

No, he doesn't seem like he's in pain. He did a little better last night, going down around 7:30 and waking up for the first time around 2am and again at 3:30 (I can't remember if there was a 3rd time in there somewhere).

Re: Sleeping Issues... HELP!
It kind of sounds pretty typical for a 4 month old. You're getting a 6.5 hour stretch which is considered sttn at that age. You're just getting it early in the night. At that age,DS was sleeping 10pm-5am, having a bottle and going back down for another hour or 2. So that's exactly what your son is doing, just much earlier in the night.

Re: Sleeping Issues... HELP!
Where does DS sleep? We just went through this as well. DD just turned 4 1/2 mos last week. She was sleeping for a decent stretch for 5-6 hrs at night in the PNP in our room. Then we moved and it all went out the window.
I nurse her to bed but she was comfort nursing and taking forever, would no longer sleep in the PNP, and if she did it was for short periods of time. I was resorting bringing her into bed with us and I didn't want to continue the same path.
We took her to the dr and I got some good advice. With all the change, moving, possible growth spurt, etc., we needed to do something different. We moved her into her room to the crib. It was the best decision ever! It took a little bit to get her down the frist night. Night 2 she slept for 8 hrs and last night was night 3 and she slept for 10 hrs!! I actually had to wake her up.
So a change in sleeping environment worked for us. Maybe it will work for you too. Good luck!! I know how hard it is. I've been out of my mind these last few weeks!
