HELP NEEDED! Sleeping issues..

So Alliison is almost 7 months and has been a pretty good sleeper since birth. She has had a few rough nights i attributed them to teethign but who knows.. Anyway last week she was really sick she had the flu and bronchitis. She was in my bed a lot last week since she would have terrible coughing fits and would sometimes make herself throw up. At the time i said this is going to come back to haunt me having her in bed but my baby was sick and i wasnt really thinking long term.

Anyway she is all better but now she is waking up anywhere between 2and 4 am and thinks it play time.I shoudl mention she goe sin to her crib at 7 with no problems but in teh middle of teh night is when its an issue. I go in i try to sooth her with the pacifier and rubbing her back but she isnt even laying down she is on all fours trying to crawl around her crib. I take her out sit with her she calms down and i go to put her back and as soon as she hits teh crib BOOM she is awake. The last two nights she has been in my room since about 330 on. Its driving me nuts because i said i would never do this. and also i cant sleep with her there all that well. I go back to work tomrrrow and i am dreading feeling this tired tomorrow and having to deal with a bunch of 6th graders.

BTW i refuse to do CIO for anumber of reasons but teh major one being that i have peopel living downstairs from me and the noise travels.

Should i try putting her to bed later? You think its teething? By why is she so full of energy at 3 am?Chat Icon

Re: HELP NEEDED! Sleeping issues..

Probably because you give her lots of attention. She knows that if she cries, she gets picked up, hugged, cuddled, etc. There is a middle ground between holding her and rocking her to sleep and CIO. If you go in there when she cries, give her her paci, do some things to soothe her, but don't pick her up, she'll start to realize that it isn't play time. That way, she'll be comforted, she won't CIO, you'll be comforted knowing that you're in there helping her, but it won't be a "fun" time for DD.

Re: HELP NEEDED! Sleeping issues..

I have to agree w/GoldenRod - we went thru the same thing w/Ryan where he'd be up around 2-4am then fall back to sleep on his own. He just wanted to play at that time. I dont' know if it was habit from teething/being sick or just a phase...but I found that if I went in his room he would get even more excited and it would delay his falling back to sleep. Try giving her less and less attention gradually until she gets that it's not play time (if you're not comf. w/CIO) Good luck!It wont last forever!!!Chat Icon

I think it might just be a phase. We went through this for a few weeks...it was really awful, but it was funny. Eventually he just started to sleep through again!

Good luck!
