I don't plan on bringing a bathing suit (or should I?) and since I have family in FL- I plan on having them keep their eye on the weather the week im going, so I know what to pack...

We are definitely packing bathing suits! It is a little on the cool side now, but you never know what could happen in a few weeks.

The resort has an amazing pool and water area so we wouldn't want to miss it Chat Icon

I'm not bringing a bunch like I would for warmer weather, but one I can find room for just in case Chat Icon

What about renting a car?

Yay or nay???

Dh thinks its a good idea and I think it will only cost us like an extra $100 for the week-

but I dont want it if we dont need it...

I was thinking it might be a good idea because we could go out to dinner off Disney property and save some $$$$

Thoughts???

Yay. We did breakfast& some dinners out of Disney and didn't have to rely on bus service at all. Also there is a huge Walmart on International Drive where you can get diapers, wipes, snack and very cheap souvenirs. We will rent again next time we go down.

If you rent a car, I wouldn't use it to get to the MK. It's a pain to go from the TTC on the ferry or monorail to the park since the lines are always super long. With the bus service, they take you right to the gate.

Renting a car.. YAY!!!! When we went in September we took the buses and monorails and I have to say the buses suk! We waited forever to make all the stops and load people and we waited forever for the bus to even get there! Half the time there weren't enough seats for all of us and getting the stroller on was a PITA! (and this was during off-season)We even took a cab back to the hotel from AK one time because we were just sooo tired of waiting for the buses. We decided that next time and all the rest of the times we go we will never take the buses again.

International Drive has alot of different places on it. We ate at Denny's, Ihop & Smokey Bones. As soon as you get there find yourself those little tourist maps(they are all over). We picked places out from there.

we rent a car because we like to have the freedom to do other things, we'll probably do Seaworld one day, food shopping and we have a reservation at Ming Court that someone recommended on my thread about restaurants off disney property.

We rented a minivan from Dollar and it was only $189 for the week and since we were going to Sea World and Universal, it was essential.
If you are staying on property, then make sure you get a resort parking permit, because that gives you free access to the parks (instead of the $11/day)

About the hotel mugs, I would only recommend them if you are a drinker (coffee, soda, etc). You really don't spend alot of time in resort so you have to figure out if they are worth it to you. They have hot chocolate, coffee and soda at the fountains. If you want to save money, buy one cup and then split the drink into plastic cups for the whole family.

I would definetely recommend Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace and we did the Play & Dine at MGM breakfast with JoJo & Little Einsteins. My kids liked it (they are 2, 4, 7)

I mostly want the mug to have milk available for my son (he drinks a cup at wake up and a cup before bed)

When I have been there, there hasn't been unlimited refills of milk. You can only buy a container of it at the food court. That could've changed though.

There is a whole kiddie section there. We took DD to see a Barney show that she was in awe of. It is mostly adult rides though. We left her with my parents while we went on some rides.

we are getting ready to go, I ve been planning like a mofo! Chat Icon

A couple of tips that I have learned from the research are putting all our outfis for each day in a ziploc bag underwear and all so that we can grab and go

--- buy moleski or blister block for walking around.

----disposable camera for DS so he can "take pictures on his own"

----extra ziplocs for wet clothes

---make copies of all docs and tickets just in case

I will add on later as I think of more,
we are so excited we are going in 2 weeks.

Yes you can buy ponchos at Walmart for really cheap while you are there if you don't bring them. Also rain cover for the stroller all the way. Don't wait to buy it there either. Make sure you bring it they didn't even know what one was when I went up and down International Drive.

Ok- well no one else will be there with us-

Its a toss up between sea world and Universal- which is more appropriate?

I *don't* think that milk is part of the refill station. I remember having to buy it in the grocer section of the food court.

If it is just your family and he is the only child, I think I would recommend Sea World hands down over Universal.

The small amount of rides in Universal for small kids doesn't seem worth it for you to buy a park ticket.

"old" Universal has Fifel land - huge climbing area - my 2 yr got lost in the tunnels - lol and a Curious George area that is all water. THere is also the Barney show.

IOA has Dr. Suess land, with the carousel, dr suess ride (very spinny), one fish two fish (like dumbo but you get a bit wet) and a little train ride through some of the dr seuss lands.

Sea World has a new kiddie section, Shamu's Happy Harbor, that our kids would not leave for 2+hrs!! plus all the shows make it a more young kid friendly area.

I think it is the boards - they are sometimes overloaded and can get slow. I have a mac and mine seems okay
