Silly Vent
I know to some this comes off sounding silly or ungrateful but that is not the intention of this at all. It is just a weird thing to me that I wanted to discuss.
I am registered at BRU and BBB. We have between the two registries, over 100 items listed. More than enough choices in every department, price range, etc...
So far only 8 items have been purchased, which is fine, because we figured maybe people were making homemade gifts (which are so sweet and i love) or giving a monetary gift or purchasing clothes or diapers since those are important necessities and not on our registry.
Well, 1 of the 8 gifts purchased from our registry were the waterproof mattress pads for our crib. But what I noticed was that we also had 4 gifts purchased that we never registered for. 2 crib sheets, crib bumpers and a blanket. It wasn't even a cute set they found and couldn't resist. They picked a tan crib sheet, a pink crib sheet and dark brown bumpers, none of which match well. I just find this odd because there were pack and play and bassinet sheets we registered for that haven't been purchased yet and a blanket that we registered for and was purchased (by someone else). We didn't register for crib sheets because we already have 3 of them and we will not be using crib bumpers. Also, we know some people are making us homemade blankets and we registered for one or two.
It wouldn't be such a big deal if I could just return the items that we didn't need and exchange it for the items we do need off our registry but DH is SO against returns- especially if they are gifts. Even if the person who bought it NEVER comes over or wouldn't know the difference... he thinks it is rude to return it. But I feel like that $50 or $60 dollars is wasted because we already have sheets we'd prefer to use and we won't be using the bumpers at all... and there are 92+ items still on our registry we will need to buy ourselves.

Re: Silly Vent
Maybe they aren't for you. Sometimes if people tell the cashier that they shopped off a registry they might include everything in the purchase instead of what was really meant for you. For example, if I bought a baby monitor off your registry and then some clothes and diapers for my kid, the cashier might include everything as being off the registry and therefore you would see the clothes and diapers show up on registry as iterms bought even though you didnt register for them. KWIM?
If they are for you though, maybe you can just exchange them without your DH knowing? I know it sounds bad but like you said, why keep something if you're not gonig to use it and still need other things?

Re: Silly Vent
It is strange that there are so many items on your registry and someone bought you sheets and a bumper that you didn't register for. How do you know these items were purchased? Did you already receive them or does it show on your registry when other items are purchased? I say don't feel bad about returning unwanted or unneeded gifts in exchange for something your baby really does need. If your DH is so against it, I would wait a few weeks and then return them. If he's anything like my DH he will completely forget about them and never notice that they're gone. It s not like they're memorable items. Just sheets and a bumper. And I would 100% not feel guilty about returning the bumper since bumpers are considered to be unsafe.

I agree with Candice. They might just be stuff purchased at the same time since when someone buys stuff off a registry and their own things in one transaction, it shows up as off the registry.
I think there is a very simple solution here:
STOP REGISTRY STALKING!!!!
And if you insist on doing it, stop worrying about stuff. Most items will be bought the day before your shower or that morning. Because that's how people roll.

Re: Silly Vent
I doubt they are for someone else as they were purchased with the waterproof crib pads I registered for, and no one coming to my shower has young kids, but maybe and hopefully they are.
If not, I guess I could try to return them without DH knowing, but that makes me feel soooo guilty! He is so adamant about keeping the gifts, even if they go unused. (I think he wants to feel prepared to rip them out of storage at a moments notice in case the gift giver comes over or demands a photo or something LOL). We live in a very small one bedroom apartment, tight on space and money, and I just feel like keeping those gifts would be a waste of storage space and money essentially. But we'll see. It'll work out. I've already washed the crib sheets we bought so I can't return those. I would keep the blanket but maybe DH would settle on at least returning the bumpers since he knows they are unsafe and didn't want to use them either.

I sincerely, truly want to! But it is so hard to resist.... I should get a web blocker just to keep me from looking at it.

I'd return them if you will never use them. Its not like they will know so why not have what you need. I'd return them without DH knowing because it doesn't matter.
I thought the same thing too about it not being for you. BBB especially. They lump everything in one receipt zo if someone buys something not on the registry for themselves it shows up. Not sure why. It's silly.

I still think this is a mistake. Maybe they were picking them up for a friend or another shower?

Re: Silly Vent
I have family that likes to buy stuff on clearance even if it doesn't match, isn't on my registry, etc. So I would so return it, especially if I don't need it
