silly baby and halloween question

This doesn't apply to me this yr b/c I'm due in Feb. However, my question is..
Do you (or will you) take your baby trick-or-treating? These people must know that the candy isn't for the baby, do you think that they will give you a hard time or make comments??

What do you do with a baby on halloween besides dress up in a cute costume?

my SIL took her one year old last year trick or treating to a few houses, no one really said anything to her other than how adorable his costume was.

but that is an interesting question....

I will have a 4 month old DD during Halloween time. Since there aren't any other kids to take trick or treating with a purpose I won't be going trick or treating this year. I'll save that for more when she can actually ring the bell and "trick or treat". I would feel silly taking her trick or treating at 4 months old.

BUT a friend is throwing a halloween party for kids... so I intend on getting her all dressed up for the party.

Also, there is a neighborhood parade that I plan on taking her to as well. I figure I can dress her up and watch the parade with her all dressed up.

If I didn't have those things to do... I'd still dress her up for halloween and then I'd go for a nice long walk.

i forgot to mention my mom kept things like a bag of pretzels (individual packets) or something a one year old could possibly eat (lorna dunes...lol) in case any came to the door.

Not this year, he'll only be a few weeks. But next year yes!!! And the Halloween parade too!

Dd was 4 months for her 1st Halloween I dressed her up and went with my 2 yr old niece trick or treating... I took her last year to a few houses. This hr the baby will be about a week old and dd 2 so I plan on taking them both! We usually go to all the grandparents houses and then just do our small block and call it a day!

Last year DS was 13.5m and we took him with his buddy in a wagon around the neighborhood. It was so much fun! The neighbors really got a kick out of seeing them in costume. We did wind up with bags of candy that they obviously couldn't eat- but the mommies could

We have an aunt, grandparents in the same town and friends/close neighbors I will probably take baby just to those houses we know. candy for me. I have had babies I dont know come with parents, I gave candy without thought, if a cute baby came dressed up, it made me happy, no harm giving candy as a thankyou to mom.

my LO would be hovering around 12 months next year, so I might just take him/her around the block, and momma keeps all the candy but I find it so cute and friggin adorable to see little chubbsters dressed up and candy I give them is a nod to mom and dad

Emily was a few weeks old for her first Halloween. I dressed her up in an "I love my Mummy" shirt and she handed out candy with me. It was nice to "show her off" a bit to the neighborhood.

She was just over a year old on her 2nd Halloween. We dressed her up like a fairy and brought her to the 6 houses on our block. It was mostly to show her off to the neighbors, because she didn't eat any of the candy. She did hold a lollypop afterwards for hours, all smiling that the neighbor gave her something ,even though she didn't know that the wrapper even came off and that there was something sweet inside!

Thanks girls for your answers. I would LOVE to dress up my baby and go trick-or-treating. But I would cry if anyone was mean to me..

My dd was 10 months old when we brought her trick or treating last year. She couldnt walk yet so we just wheeled her in her stroller with her costume on . We werent going to bring her to the door to get candy but everyone that saw her said "oh she needs some candy" LOL everyone was really sweet and me and my dh got to enjoy her candy

My DD will be 10 months next halloween. If anything I will take her to my parents house and my inlaws and possibly a few close family members and friends to see them but thats all. I know alot of houses in my moms area usually have something to give the little little kids as well like pretzels or goldfish. But I'm not giving my kid a butterfinger lol... that will be for mommy!

DD#1 was 2 1/2 months old her 1st Halloween. I did have a costume for her from Childrens Place. But we didn't go trick or treating. I dressed her up, took her to see my DH at work, and stopped at my parents and IL's house.

The 2nd year, when she was just over a year, we did take her trick or treating with my nieces and nephews (DH and I dressed up too)....she got candy, but DH and I took care of that. My mother had a basket with puffs, etc, that she ate...she pretty much had no clue what was going on

This DD will be 6 days old on Halloween, so neither mommmy nor baby will be going anywhere....but we'll take her out next year for sure.
