Siblings visiting hospital-when and how often

My twins will be 26 months when this baby is born.

I am hoping for a vbac but may have to have a c section if I don't go before my due date.

When did your DC come visit you?

The first day? or wait until the second day when you are feeling a little better?

I am fine with them being away from me overnight so is it better to just wait?

I think it depends on when you give birth and how you feel, but I would assume it would be best for the kids to meet their sibling the first full day you're in the hospital!

DS#2 was born the day before DS#1's 2nd birthday. My parents took DS#1 to LI to stay with them for the weekend. I felt sooo guilty not being with DS#1 on his actual birthday. We did have a bday party for him 3 weeks before. My parents took him to church on his bday and they got him a cake.

DS#2 visited me on Day 2, the day before I was discharged. My parents brought him back to Manhattan to visit the baby. DH went home with them to our apartment and the next day, DH came back to the hospital and we walked home.

I am hoping for a VBAC as well with #2. As long as I don't deliver in the middle of the night I would like my DD to come in right away and see the baby and I. (and be there for the first round of visiting hours) But she'll be 4.5 at the time so she has a good understanding of what's happening and she's so excited to see the baby, I don't want to make her wait. Being apart from her will be hard on her (and me!!) so I would like to have her visit as soon as it's possible.

DD was born at 3am and DH brought DS (27 months) Saturday afternoon about 4pm (and Sunday as well)

i had a csection on a Monday, DD was born at 10:13am.

DS came with family monday late afternoon around 5pm. He stayed until 630 and then went home with no complaints (someone gave him a big cookie that he couldn't eat until after dinner so he was happy to go home and eat dinner )

DD was born 1/21 and it was the week of extreme cold so DS didn't visit again. It was HARD. We facetime'd every morning and night but that was a large part of the reason that I went home on day 3 instead of day 4 (no regrets there, easy recovery).

ETA - i had NO pain when he was there. I wasn't up and moving yet but was comfortable. Def less comfortable day 2.

When #3 was born my first two were 3.5 and 2 weeks away from 5. They came the first day and I didn't want them back. They were very upset leaving me and my DH said it was hard for them. Looking back, I wish they never came, even though I missed them. I had a vaginal birth so I wasn't in long.

I had c-section Monday night.
DS came up at 2pm the next day. He stayed for about an hour and a half...it was dicey. Thank god there was family there to keep him occupied.
He came up everyday, for only a littlt bit.

I had a c section with my first DD (baby #2) and DS came to the hospital that day. With this baby, I also had a c section and DS and DD came to the hospital the next day.

DS was just 2 and was there when DS 2 was born. I had a sched csection. He was fine and happy to be around all his grandparents and cousins. He got so much attention from everyone and was more fascinated by the fish in the waiting room. He came everyday to the hospital for a little bit. No issues, but really didn't want much to do with the baby.
I guess it depends on the kid and how they are being separate from you. Like I said... DS 1 just loved the attnetion and new toys from everyone.
