siblings visiting baby at hospital

DD is almost 3. I have a scheduled C section for April 11 at 7:30 am. My mom is taking off that day and the next. Do you think this is a good plan....have my mom pick up DD from my inlaws house (we're staying there while they do construction on ours') and bring her right away? I know my mom is going to want to come to the hospital as soon as she can to see the new baby. Is it too soon for DD to come too? Will the hospital allow her near the baby and me right away?

Our plan is to bring DS to the hospital when the baby arrives. He'll be 2.

Obviously as long as he's not sick or anything I want him there. He's my son as well. I'm not going to let him touch the baby, but see the new LO (we're team green).

There's gonna be so much family there to keep him entertained so he should be fine. I don't think I'll want him there all day b/c it's too much. May even send him to daycare the next day so he can have a regular day and either my mom or MIL will pick him up, bath him ( ) and bring him back the next day
At LIJ when DS was born the H1N1 was a big scare so no children were allowed.
I'm having a private room this time. As long as the hospital is ok with it then I plan on doing everything I said above

DD will be 16.5 months and I plan on having her come! It will only be for a little while but Im going to miss my little muchkin so much while in the hospital. Plus, I want her to meet her little brother right away!

I know they werent allowing little ones in during flu season but I think April you will be fine.

i keep debating the same! my mom also took off day of my c/s and day after...she will be watching ds, also 3...


my only concern that I have is if he comes, sees baby, and then has to leave us eventually to go back home with grandma...meanwhile, mommy and daddy are staying in hospital with new baby....

i mean, he could not even notice and be fine with it, but that is my only concern.

DH thinks we should have him come up the last day when we are checking out of the hospital, and have him chill with us, eat some breakfast, and then we all go home together.

I didn't have my twins come visit at the hospital. I was originally going to, but DH and I decided it wasn't the best idea while I was there.
They were doing great at home, and I was really afraid they would freak out if they saw me and then had to leave me in a strange place.
I also knew they'd want to climb all over me which wouldn't be a good idea after a c-section. Also, at 2 years old they would have nothing to do in a hospital room - they'd be touching everything, running around the halls, etc.
I missed them like crazy, but it worked for us.
DH made a video of me and the baby to show them at home and he called me each night when he was putting them to bed so I could say good night to them.

Landon came Day 2. My situation was a bit different... my c-section was not planned (preeclampsia) and ws in the afternoon. I was sick after delivery and things were a littlle crazy. But first thing on Day 2 MIL brought Landon up. We had presents there for him from the babies. He was so happy.

DD came to good sam the next day to visit. DH brought her. she can come right in the room near you and the baby. we let her sit with me first then brought the baby over. she was there maybe 15minutes and then was going to get ice cream after with my parents. we needed a way to entice her to leave. she did great. i was glad she came.
