Yes the names are very similar but I don't think there should be any rules about how different siblings' names have to be. If YOU love the name and YOU are okay with it then I'd say go for it. I think Everly is a beautiful name btw!
I agree.
My grandsons have similar sounding names. Didn't stop my daughter from using them.
She also didn't ask anyone for this reason She loved the names and that was that.

DD2 is Harper (so nothing like Avery) and I mix up their names ALL the time. Most of the time actually. My mom always did that and I never got it - now I totally get it!
Lol I do the same with my DS and SS, Lou and Ajay total different names. I just mean I would probably do it a lot more.
I used to think the same about my aunt growing up confusing us, but now it totally makes sense!

Like others have said, I don't think the middle name is the issue. Everly and Avery are just too similar.

I was going to suggest this as well. I think they are very similar too. But I think if you reverse it, it would be fine.
Eta: I also think if you love the names they way you picked it then you should use that name. It's your child and no one but you and your DH needs to be happy with it

Sibling Names - too similar?
I love both of the names separately, but together for siblings, they are way too similar. When I say them back to back, its like a tongue twister. At the end of the day, you need to do whatever makes you and DH happy!

They do sound similar, which you already know, but if you both love the name and really want to name her Everly, then I think you should! You could also call her "Ev" or Evee for short if it gets to be too confusing for the girls.

I think they are lovely. I'd totally use it.
Similar, maybe, but different enough.
Oh and I agree.. doesn't matter WHAT you call them, mixing up is easy. My name Veronica (aka Ronica) was always mixed up with my sister Patricia (Trish). Trish and Ronica sound NOTHING alike. Our other nicknames would get swapped too. When Dad was still alive he even called me AJ once or twice. I'd just reply "Veronica" haha
My sister and I would laugh because we both have daughters with similar names. He'd get all mixed up with all four of us. We sat there and said "Well when he figures out only two of us can actually understand what he's saying, he'll narrow his choice down"

My sons are Sean and Colin - they sound nothing alike and I call them each other's name all the time (and sometimes the dog's name, Lola gets thrwon into the mix too!) 
Everly and Avery DO some really similar - but as long as youi're ok with it (and ok w/ dealing w/ people commenting on it b/c right or wrong, they WILL comment) WHO cares? They're your kids!
Didn't George Foreman name like, 13 kids after himself ??

I Love the names and do think they are their own individual people no matter how alike names sound. It's not going to be many times both are announced together we do grow up and go on to live our own lives beyond childhood years of mom yelling at us at once lol.
I do have to add though they sound like a little song when you combine them...like ebony, ivory lol.

I swear to god I don't mean to sound mean but honestly honestly if you called them out loud in front of me, "Avery Emerson and Everly Addison!" I would think it's completely ridiculous. I really don't mean to sound harsh. I'm just offering up a super honest opinion.

I think the problem also is people are sounding it out right now since its all in written form...so yes A-VER-Y sounds like EV-ER-LY but you wouldn't pronounce it that way.
Its AVE-RY 2 syllables and then EV-ER-LY 3 syllables. Doesn't sound alike at all when your yelling it out.

Yeah, we definitely won't use Addison as a middle name - it is way too similar together.

They do sound similar, but she will have this name forever. You will have to call her this name forever. I hate rules when it comes to names. If you love the name, use it. If I am in love with a name my BFF has for her kid, I am using it. People make up too many rules IMO.

My dad still calls me the wrong name And I call my girls the wrong names all the time. They laugh at me. There names have nothing similar about them except they both contain the letters A and E.
