Sibling Names - too similar?

I will find out tomorrow for sure, but DC3 is most likely a girl. If so, we are going to use Everly as a first name, which I think is similar to DD1's name (Avery Emerson) with the "ver". For a middle name we like Addison. Is Avery Emerson too similar to Everly Addison? We are Jewish so we name after the dead, and luckily we don't have too many other choices for initials. Other letters we could use are M and H (which are DD2's initials). Opinions? Thanks!

I think they are way too similar.

How about reversing it? Addison Everly.

Ok, thanks everyone. I think we are going to stick with Everly as the first name and find a different middle name. It's hard because so many names we like end in ly - DH wanted Everly Ainsley, but I don't like the two names ending in ly together. Will keep looking!

I think they are very similar. I could see myself mixing up the names more often when disciplining them.Chat Icon

DD2 is Harper (so nothing like Avery) and I mix up their names ALL the time. Most of the time actually. My mom always did that and I never got it - now I totally get it!

Sibling Names - too similar?

I think they are very similar. I know 2 people that did that and its kind of ridiculous and people comment on it all the time. Which realistically who cares what anyone thinks, but in terms of the child identity, I think they should each have their own sounding name. Not too similar.

Yes, I agree. Avery and Everly sound very similar. I think the middle name is less of an issue.

Thanks. I know they are similar, but I think we are going to use it anyway. We will choose a middle name that doesn't end in "son" though.

I agree, but I also think that they will have their own identity when they go to school.

Yes, the first names are way too similar in my opinion. I don't think the middle names matter at all. People don't typically go by both first and middle names. The only difference between Avery and Everly is the "L" in Everly. I'm sorry to say, I am not a fan of this combination for siblings.

Re: Sibling Names - too similar?

My girls are Emily and Aubrey which sound similar in the ending. Some of my family didn't like the way they sounded when I was pg guess what everyone lived. If you like it than go for it!

This.

Also, if you're going to use the first name no matter what, then I don't think it it matters if you change the middle name or not. Nobody uses their middle names.

Yes the names are very similar but I don't think there should be any rules about how different siblings' names have to be. If YOU love the name and YOU are okay with it then I'd say go for it. I think Everly is a beautiful name btw!
