Should I spill the beans before school is over?

My last day of school is on June 25th. I'll only be 11 weeks. Do I tell people then or do I show up in September 5 months pregnant?!

Also, I'm working summer school, so some people are going to find out eventually over the summer. I just don't know when I should tell my principal and director.

I told at 14 weeks and wasn't showing yet at all. I think you should do what you feel comfortable with.

i wouldn't because the minute the parents find out they'll immediately start requesting not to be in your class for next year because they don't want a leave replacement. Chat Icon

that's unfortunately how it is at my school and even at 17 weeks, the parents and kids do NOT know and i will NOT tell them until september.

also, i personally think 11 weeks is early to tell children because a lot can still happen unfortunately Chat Icon

I'm a special area teacher, so I don't have to worry about parent requests. And I'm in a kindergarten building so I'm not planning on telling the kids...they wouldn't understand yet and they won't be in my building next year. I'm just dying to tell all the people I work with!

since you're dying to, then tell them!

or maybe tell your close friends and don't make the "announcement" until sept to the rest of the faculty.

Re: Should I spill the beans before school is over?

I"m not telling because of school politics. I'm 12 1/2 weeks now and have been struggling with this decision. I'll be 141/2 when school ends. I am worried that my principal and AP will be upset when I just show up preggo in Sept, but I'm also worried that they may eliminate my position if they know. They wouldn't "fire me", but they could say, "Oh , we don't have the funding for this specialty position anymore"...
Its sadly been done before. I want to keep my job until december!
I don't know if I'm being paranoid or not. It is a tough decsion.
