Shellfish

What did your doctor say about eating shellfish? Is it bad? We are going on our babymoon and I am dying for lobsterChat Icon Only thing is I had shrimp and baked clams the other day, is this limited to only once per week?

Re: Shellfish

It's fine as long as you eat it once a week. I'm going on a cruise next week, when I went to get my forms signed to get permission to be on the boat pregnant that was one of things I asked...so I'm not eating anything before lobster night! lol.

I think swordfish, and shark are the ones you absolutely cannot have because the mercury levels are so high, I read it a while ago. Google fish during pregnancy and it should tell you.

ETA: Only cooked shellfish, no raw clams or anything like that.

Re: Shellfish

Thats what I figured.....I have a list of all the fish to stay away from because of the high levels of mercury but I wasnt sure about shellfish. I know tuna is only once a week but what about crabs, clams, shrimp, lobster? I am definitely going to have to check this out before I goChat Icon

Re: Shellfish

Yeah I was just told to be careful where I get it, and if I cook it at home, to wash it thoroughly. I think 2 servings a week is fine.

They told me not to eat fish from the buffet (the idea grosses me out anyway so that's not a problem) but at dinner I can order salmon one night and wait a few days and get another fish dish.

Re: Shellfish

All I craved during this pregnancy was fish! I was always a big steak eater and the thought of it makes me sick right now! I eat shrimp once a week along with flounder/sole once a week!
