Hi Ladies,
Has anybody asked their doctor if getting Shellac manicures is safe during pregnancy?

I always got them... Didn't think to ask my doc- he probably wouldn't even have known what they were lol

I am going to a female OB/MFM Tuesday. I plan on asking her if color gel and shellac is safe. I'll come back and let you know what she says.

I got one and never thought to ask the dr but I wasn't one to ask my dr about anything like that. DD is perfectly fine.
Eta: the only thing I heard to do was out a little SPF on your hands bc your skin is more sensitive while pg and you put your hands in the uv light.

My doc said it was fine. I normally get regular manis because I feel like gel/shellac messes my nails, but once I get to 38/39 weeks I'm planning on getting them to hold me over once baby is born

Thanks ladies! I've been getting them , and never thought to ask. Then I was starting to wonder if soaking in the acetone to get color off would be harmful. Glad to see its not!

I didn't soak. They put the cotton soaked little pieces on my nails and wrapped them with tin foil.
