Shelby is here!
What a morning we had...
We had to go to a 'park and ride' parking lot this morning to pick up our sweet new puppy. We adopted her through Paws and Claws, based in ME. I guess they rescue dogs from down south and then transport them up to New England. It was so emotional watching the dogs and puppies go to their new families. Some of the dogs were so terrified, who knows what they have been through...DH and I were in tears watching it all.
A man was there from one of the many rescue organizations that uses this particular transport and he was praising us for rescuing a dog, and talked to us for a good 30 minutes about the dogs. There were like 20 other families there!! It was a great experience...
Anyway, our little miss came off of the trailer covered in pee and poop and BOY did she smell bad!  I seriously gagged. But she seemed soooo happy to see us, poor thing had been on the trailer for 2 days driving up from AK. We snuggled her and kissed her right away and she was so friendly.
We're had her home for almost 12 hours now and I must say, she is seriously the cutest, sweetest, most loving dog ever. The pictures don't do her justice, she is gorgeous (I might be biased  ) She loves me the most for some reason and follows me everywhere, and jumps in my lap whenever she can. I've always wanted a mushy dog!
Lexie is adjusting okay so far. She's a little jealous, but we took her on some walks today and bought her a new toy...I feel a bit guilty even though I know they will be great friends someday. She's still a pup herself (18 months) so it's interesting to see the two of them interact. Lexie is HUGE compared to this peanut.

She is a Beagle/Bassett mix supposedly...
And yes, my sister got her pup (Daisy!) yesterday morning! In 12 days or so, the sisters will have a reunion! I can't wait to see them together. 
Oh and I forgot how having a puppy is like having a newborn. SO much poop.  She cried twice during the night to go out. But suddenly this morning she is all about pooping wherever she wants.  Let the fun begin! We trained Lexie pretty quickly and I hope the same thing happens this time around.

Shelby is BEAUTIFUL!!!! Looks like your girls are in love with her too!
I'm sure the training will be fine, she's probably so out of whack from all of the traveling!
